" The Atlanta Fed’s GDP tracker now indicates that the economy is headed for a 1.5% contraction in the first quarter, after showing 2.3% growth just days earlier. That also marks a sharp reversal from the fourth quarter, when GDP expanded by 2.3%. Several economic indicators have been raising alarms as consumers and businesses brace for Trump tariffs and federal job cuts."

  1. This is all lies. Ending support for Ukraine will be the first step to keeping a strong economy

  2. so what that says is the economy was good and getting better under Biden and I’m just 6 weeks trump has beyond destroyed all of it

  3. Everything Trump does seems to be an attack on the American people. There is now a proposed port tax on all Chinese ships. China builds most contaciner ships in the world so that will further stoke up inflation.

Also, those companies setting up manufacturing in the US will no doubt pay for it via price rises. The 10s of thousands of US workers now without work will supress demand for luxury goods creating enhancing any depression.

It really does feel like Trump is waging war on his own people.

  4. The other thing to note is that Trump seems to be attacking the west and thus the human retaliation is to choose none US goods. US goods are really starting to be seen as ‘down market’.(

  5. I’m surprised banks haven’t shown any concern over their government contract companies. Losing your revenue overnight ala covid was catastrophic since most companies don’t save for a rainy day.

  6. there will be millions unemployed by the end of the year. stock the launder now!

  7. Not a recession. As I’m sure everyone knows by now, words have definitions, and the projected contraction of a single quarter does not qualify.

  8. Amazon which sells mostly upcharged Chinese goods just told all the maintenance and engineer workers that they are gonna be reducing headcount

  9. Does anyone have any hypotheses on the effect of bank owned commercial real estate mortgages or related securities?
