  1. Always work.. probably linked to being an organist! Went to see some fine National Trust snowdrops in the sun yesterday, and still reeling from the naffness of the wood entrance set up like a cinema saying “now showing… Snowdrops!” For any Radio 4/Archers’ listeners, “Grundy world of Christmas” sprang to mind…

  2. Yesterday I had a quiet morning as husband and kids were at the in-laws doing jobs for them. Wasn’t feeling well and pain was a problem so I stayed home. Kids got home and asked if we could go to the park. I was tired and achy and depressed and didn’t want to go anywhere. So we went to the park. Which was a good decision mentally, I think, blew away some cobwebs, also exhausted the kids a bit more so we had a very chilled afternoon. However hobbling around after them at the park took me from “in quite a lot of pain” to “holy fuck that’s a lot of pain” so today I am good for absolutely nothing. As in I may have to wake my husband to help me with my meds before I can even get out of bed properly.

If I feel a little bit better at any point I really want to prep dinner for the week, it’s so much easier coming home from work and everything is done. I might get one of the bar stools from the kitchen island and set it up at the worktop and get the kids to help me fetch stuff so I can still get it done. I’ve got a couple of meals in the freezer from making double batches on previous weeks so if I can make a pie, a double batch of sweet and sour chicken (eat one freeze one), and a double batch of satay chicken, I can get the tandoori drumsticks and honey mustard chicken out of the freezer through the week (brother in law lives here and can only eat chicken hence no other meat) and have a week’s meals ready and still have two meals in the freezer for another time.

  3. Currently reading The Road by Cormac Mccarthy so will spend my morning reading the book in a quiet cafe and then late pub lunch to end the day with!

  4. Just taken the dogs out and sat with a coffee. Bacon buttie in a bit, go to the gym at some point, need to do some chain maintenance on my bike, got some reading to do and maybe some time on my PlayStation.

  5. My son has a friend over for a playdate! I’ve got to tidy and hoover the lounge. I offered to pick his friend up – partly selfish on my part as we also have to feed my in-laws cat and my son really struggles with transitions/leaving the house so I thought this would be a good way to get him out the door and feed the cat on the way.

    I’m weirdly nervous!

And in the evening, hopefully my son will be sufficiently tired out that he’ll be asleep by 8pm. Leaving plenty of time for Lego, games and/or reading in a bubble bath.

Edit: I mean reading in a bubble bath, not making Lego. Although with a substantial bath shelf, that could be fun…

  6. Taking young un swimming then out in motorbike for a ride 😁

  7. Going to pick up a pram for our incoming baby before continuing the declutter of our home.

  8. Finally hanging a dartboard in my house. Its been 6 months of not having one up and I’ve missed it!

  9. Just back from walking the dogs, always a beautiful experience at sunrise in the Peak District. Especially so today when we came across a couple very enthusiastically going at it doggy style on some frozen steps on a bridle way and I got a full moon view of the guys bum.

Dogs were off lead but thankfully both just quizzically tilted their heads, looked at me then ran off. Could have been worse.

She’s braver than I would be kneeling like that on frozen ground, plus it’s not exactly secluded!

They seemed pretty classy given she said, quoting: “he can do you after if you want love, he’ll have plenty left’. “No you’re alright thanks, carry on” wasn’t the most witty reply sadly.

    I suppose it IS spring.

  10. I have to fix a gutter that’s come away from the down pipe. Trouble is, I can only get the base of the ladder about 2 1/2 feet from the wall thanks to some weird boundary lines and a dividing wall, so its super sketchy getting it in place and using it. I’m really not looking forward to it! Might go for a run first but I can’t put it off any longer.

  11. It’s the first day in my chemo cycle when I’m starting to feel human again. Having spent a week looking out of my window listing jobs that need doing in the garden, today I’m finally getting out there! 😊😊😊

  12. I was up all night playing Monster Hunter Wilds, so I’ll be sleeping then when I wake up, the daily vacuuming of whatever my dogs shed in the last 24 hours, dinner, more Monster Hunter.

  13. Guests are leaving midday so probably a lazy afternoon on the cards

  14. Already been to see my “not my cat” cats on my walk (plus a bonus cat). Then I’m taking my son to see a university he’s considering for his degree (not looking forward to the driving as I have painful joints). No idea what time I’ll be back but hopefully I’ll get a swim in later before collapsing in a heap for the evening.

  15. After 11 days on (only 105 hours; Tuesday was a “day off” but I went in to host the pub quiz) I’m going back to bed with a cup of tea and some ginger cake before we visit my parents this afternoon.

Texted my mum yesterday to say we’d not be there until 2ish and she responded “why?”

“Because the idea of getting dressed before noon tomorrow fills me with dread, mum”.

She’s on Slimming World (and doing very well!) So it will be a “Healthy Sunday Lunch” too – not a yorkie in sight 🙃

  16. Had the best part of two weeks off work, back today with 10hrs of it.

As long as I can get to Big Smoke City, and back, just the once, without killing anyone, the day will be a success.

  17. Might go take pictures of my model kits out in the local park.

  18. Sitting in a hospital bed again when I should be at work. Not happy with the situation but probably in the best place. No complaints about the NHS though, everyone here is amazing.

  19. Dog walk, then some admin, then a 9k run, then drilling out plaster so I can cement some old screw holes in order to refit a curtain rail. Then videogames and Hilary Mantel till bedtime

  20. Morning walk, go work a pretty small Sunday shift at work, walk home, relax and play some kingdom come deliverance 2 😁

  21. 40/50km on the bike this morning, chop up some wood for the wood burner, take my son out for a bike ride this afternoon, prep meals for work, curry this evening.

  22. Yesterday was all about cooking, I think today will be about laundry and other cleaning. I felt pretty good yesterday until I stopped moving, so the plan is to move for as long as I can, hopefully I can persuade my body that moving isn’t as scary as I have built it up to be in my head.

  23. I got up early and went for a run as the rosy glow of dawn started to outline Edinburgh Castle – it looked glorious and inspired me to my best time this year (39:22 for 8km). I’ve just cashed in a £100 gift card from work and I’ll be going to collect a carpet cleaner when I’ve drunk my coffee, but it’s such a lovely day, I’m going to quote Mole from “Wind in the Willows”, say “Hang spring cleaning” and go for a walk in the Pentland hills.

  24. I am working today. I might go for a walk after work to clear the old head as my mental health hasn’t been the best lately. Then I might finish a video game or watch tv till I fall asleep

  25. Sun was just starting to rise as I got back from dog walk, so the long months of walking in the dark will soon be over!

Today is all about the book, the sofa and the resting.
