You forgot to mention his religion
What will be done to prevent this from happening again?
Not an uncommon behavior in France.
When in france
Joël Le Scouarnec is the name of this doctor. (No written record of his name in the video description.) He's been in prison for some time, but it's right that he's facing this trial.
i am trying very hard not to judge French men. After Dominique Pelicot and now this.
Wot rot, he would not have been alone with these patients during surgery, this report is a ploy to take the publics mind off from something in parliament.
Joel Le Scouarnec is Larry Nassar Levels of sick!!!
Omg!!! How come 269 victims? This is hell.
Gave freedom & life to holes unlike hijab 😂
Disgusting.
Shame on France for fostering a culture of victim blaming! And for going easy on the perpetrators of sexual abuse.
Understanding the Challenges in the French Justice System Regarding Sexual Abuse
The issue of sexual abuse and the justice system’s response in France is complex and multifaceted. To understand why victims may feel inadequately protected and why perpetrators may not receive appropriate punishment, we can break down the analysis into several key areas: societal attitudes, legal framework, enforcement challenges, and systemic issues.
1. Societal Attitudes Towards Sexual Abuse
One significant factor influencing the justice system’s effectiveness is societal attitudes towards sexual abuse. In many cultures, including France, there has historically been a stigma attached to victims of sexual violence. Victims often face victim-blaming, which can discourage them from reporting incidents. This cultural backdrop can lead to underreporting of crimes and a lack of public support for victims seeking justice.
Moreover, there is a tendency to minimize or dismiss allegations of sexual abuse, particularly when they involve well-known figures or institutions. This societal reluctance to confront uncomfortable truths can hinder judicial processes and affect how cases are perceived by law enforcement and judges.
2. Legal Framework
France has made strides in its legal framework concerning sexual violence; however, gaps remain that can impede justice for victims. The French Penal Code defines various forms of sexual violence but has faced criticism for not adequately addressing issues such as consent. The concept of consent was redefined in 2019 with the introduction of a new law aimed at better protecting minors against sexual offenses; however, challenges persist in how these laws are applied in practice.
Additionally, there are concerns about the length and complexity of legal proceedings in France. Cases involving sexual abuse can take years to resolve due to procedural delays and bureaucratic hurdles. This protracted process can be disheartening for victims who seek timely justice.
3. Enforcement Challenges
The enforcement of laws related to sexual violence also presents significant challenges. Law enforcement agencies may lack specialized training on handling sensitive cases involving sexual abuse, leading to inadequate investigations or mishandling of evidence. Furthermore, police officers may hold biases that affect their treatment of victims and their willingness to pursue cases vigorously.
In some instances, prosecutors may choose not to pursue charges due to perceived weaknesses in evidence or concerns about victim credibility—often influenced by societal stereotypes regarding gender roles and sexuality.
4. Systemic Issues within the Justice System
Systemic issues within the French justice system contribute further to the problem. Overcrowded courts and limited resources can lead to insufficient attention being paid to individual cases of sexual abuse. Additionally, there is often a lack of coordination between different branches of law enforcement and social services that could provide comprehensive support for victims throughout the legal process.
Victims may find themselves navigating a fragmented system where access to psychological support services or legal assistance is inconsistent or inadequate.
Conclusion
In summary, while France has made legislative advancements aimed at improving protections for victims of sexual abuse, significant barriers remain that prevent effective implementation and enforcement of these laws. Societal attitudes towards victims play a crucial role in shaping responses from both law enforcement and judicial systems. Additionally, systemic inefficiencies within the justice framework further complicate matters for those seeking justice after experiencing sexual violence.

He should NOT have been able to practice after having been caught with pedo materials. And to work with children.
I cannot believe no one has unalived him after this story came out. In certain countries the other prisoners would have taken care of that by now. This is completely vile & disgusting.
Question is where was that done ? Where they no nurses or attendants with him ??
What the hell is going on in France?
What's going on in France first a guy drugs his wife and offers her up on the web for other guys to come and rape her and now this. He is convicted of child abuse and still was allow to see children patients. HELLO!
299 kids?!?😮🫨😳🤯😱
3 decades??? There should be more then 300 victims. How many victims maybe 500+ in those hospitals
What about nurses and surgen assistants? Surly others were there.
Marquis De Sade – the French are suppressed Catholics .
There are teams involved in surgery. Did they all turn a blind eye? I find it so hard to believe because it’s so abhorrent.
How in the world does this man have such private access to be able to abuse children in a hospital setting?! I just recently have a cesarean and you are surrounded by people and nurses the whole time even in recovery. The same thing happened with a GI doctor in america who was also abusing his patients.
There has to be other people involved in this! This cannot be done without the support of others working in these departments!
The Jimmy Saville of France but with an actual medical degree.
Perversion is everywhere and it’s not fixable!
@France24English you really should add Joël Le Scouarnec's name to the description. It is baffling why broadcast media still shields these predators.
😢😢
Absolutely terrible!!!
He told police he identifies as a 7th century prophet.
He still couldn’t beat the catholic diocese on these kind of crimes. Haven’t they just paid out hundreds of millions in California to their victims
Lots of perverts in France, eh?
France the ped0 capital of the world
France France what the hell is going on ?
