Denmark will be the President of the United Nations Security Council for one month starting from 1. March 2025. This presidency comes as part of Denmark’s two-year term as a non-permanent member of the Security Council, which began on 1 January 2025.

Christina Markus Lassen, Denmark’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations since September 2023, leads the Danish delegation during this pivotal period. Ambassador Lassen brings extensive diplomatic experience to the role, having previously served as Ambassador to the United States and as Under Secretary of State for Foreign Policy.

“The Danish UN Mission is ready to take on this important task today and pledge to be constructive, creative & consistent during our Presidency of the UN Security Council,” Christina Markus Lassen wrote on her X.com page.

“We are honored to take on this important responsibility and look forward to a productive and constructive month.”

On Monday, 3 March 2025. Ambassador Christina Markus Lassen will give a briefing to the media accredited to the Office of the Spokesperson for the UN Secretary-General the UN about what is going to be the Security Council’s programme for the month – as far as it is known today.
