  1. They’ll probably be based in Russia, to defend that poor innocent defenseless country

  2. I dare say most of those US Soldiers will have seen Trump’s complete betrayal of America and its allies too.

Sure, they’re trained to follow orders, but they’re not mindless.

  3. If this occurs, i don’t place blame on any individual US military personnel, but the two idiots in charge.

  4. And sack them probably. I fully expect he will sign a rule banning women from combat roles.

Then maybe even people of colour the way he’s going.

  5. So happy to boycott everything American. It would literally make no difference to my life. The US is already way behind the EU on living, educational and healthcare standards. The only thing Americans are better than us at is creating things that kill people. If we start investing more into defense we’ll do a better job at that too.

  6. That’s why placing peacekeepers in Ukraine isn’t a meaningful security guarantee – any peacekeepers can be withdrawn just as quickly as they are deployed.

  7. ..and station them far, far away from the US? …meanwhile Kim and Vlady will send a few thousand troops to Washington to protect Trump from the Democrat led military conspiracy they are about to uncover..

…and hey presto..no need to vote any more folks! Job done.

  8. Putin’s man in the White House is his best ever investment.

  9. Fine by me, I don’t want Russia-friendly troops in Europe.

  10. So they withdraw 20,000 troops and bring them home. Then what? More US unemployment that the Republicans are not going to help with.

  11. Redeployment to back-fill fruit-picking vacancies in rural USA?

  12. Easier to lay off once they are back and the equipment returned.

  13. They will never leave Ramstein.. its their base to save their control over the middle east.

  14. Trump will move them to the pacific rim to deter China’s quest for Taiwan and Trump will expect the EU support. I’m only playing the board game of guessing, but hope for the day when our allies turn their back on my country

    Actions have consequences

  15. Gonna be a lot more than that if American pulls out of the UN.

  16. I can’t wait to finally scoop up a Dodge charger for like £5

  17. Maybe move them to Gaza to start removing the rubble?

  18. And if they do, the US will finally understand where their soft power came from.

  19. Which would still leave the US with tens of thousands of more troops than were there in 2021

  20. What do they do with the 20,000 troops and their families they need to find place for?

  21. A family member of mine is in the USAF and was involved in expanding maintenance wings in Europe as the US began seeing Russia as a problem. You can’t have aircraft without maintenance, so that’s needed infrastructure. That actually started under the first Trump administration. But I predict all of those efforts will be rolled back since while it started under Trump, it will likely be seen as a Biden initiative.

While moving infantry back into Europe is easy, it’s a bigger issue when you have to relocate families and equipment. But the US can easily set-up do that when required with temporary bases.

But scaling back US forces in Europe to this degree means drastic cuts in the number of personnel needed in the US military. The fiscal conservatives would be happy about that. However, it means a lot of personnel losing their jobs.

Back in the 90s when the US did this when the Cold War ended, it meant massive layoffs in the USAF, but then immediately came back to bite the US in the butt when 9/11 happened and they lacked pilots. They were forced to recall to service some from the Vietnam era that were flying commercial airliners.

  22. Well lets hope that when all those 20.000 returns back to the US, they remember the oath the sweard.

“do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic”

  23. According to the article, this is just restoring the troop levels to what they were before Russia invaded Ukraine and the US did a troop surge.

  24. Make sure to remind vets who served there that they had a meaningless career if they sit back and do nothing about this.

  25. No doubt they will want to keep bases that benefit them like strategic airlift bases and naval bases. If they want to go Europe should kick them out of all the bases. Don’t let them cherry pick.

  26. Perfect timing for a united european 🇪🇺 force capable of protecting Ukraine and the baltic states from Soviet expansionism and foreign agents once friends!

  27. I think we are missing a zero. Are we sure this assessment is accurate?

  28. It may be for the best. We don’t know what Trump intends, and since he is aligning himself with hostile powers….
