In Poland, we have a saying “umiesz liczyć, licz na siebie”. It doesn’t translate that well into English, although it literally means “you know how to count, count on yourself.” There is another expression in English, “I count on you,” which may help to understand this Polish wisdom. Seemingly every Pole knows this Polish saying, but still, despite our hard fate in history, we do not learn from it. We keep looking for patrons instead of building real, strong and independent military capabilities and regional alliances. If not France and the UK, then the US. They are far away, and we are all the time in the same place, and no one will fight for us, because although you can write and talk anything, what matters in the end is whether we have the ability to respond to Russian aggression without the presence of the US and without their consent.
But why the flag, that should represented Poland is upside-down? That’s not Polish flag – it’s Monaco. Polish flag is white-red, that means white is on top of red colour.
