Everyone worked together to achieve a common goal but damn well it was not the Soviets who did the most.
It really is a pointless debate.
the Russians lost the most trying, irrelevant to who did the most but still they lost millions attempting to defeat hitler when they were invaded.
But but but we would all be speaking German had it not been for the USA /s
I don’t think its a case of who contributed the most, more challenging the common US view that they were singularly responsible and pretty much did it by themselves
Edit: yes, its not about who did more. It was a team effort and a lot of people who gave their lives are forgotten when history gets rewritten.
I don’t think many modern Germans think in terms of “we and them”. Most are appalled by the Nazi regime and are glad they didn’t win the war.
Why do we keep getting mentioned in these memes? We genuinely don’t give a shit.
But for arguments sake, it’s England. Russia was allied with Germany at one point, and America didn’t get involved until they were bombed by Japan.
But even still, I don’t think I’ve seen any Brit argue with an American or a Russian about this in YEARS. Wars been over for over 80 years.
If I was German today I wouldn’t give a fuck. I wasnt involved in WW2 in the same way I wasn’t involved in the Napoleonic wars.
Shit happened in the past.

None of them beat Germany alone, and policies, atrocities and crimes aside you have to admire just how well they did in essentially taking over Europe
American steel, British intelligence and Russian blood
Here’s the thing…
It’s foolish to act like the US DIDNT sacrifice many, many thousands of their troops on the ground before they joined the war formally. Same in WWI. It’s also foolish to think they didn’t have ANY positive impact.
The problem becomes that the average Yosemite Sam believes their leaders rhetoric that without them, the war would have been over before they actively joined.
There is a theoretical contention as to whether Europe COULD have won the war without the US with no conclusive path in either direction. There NO doubt that without the US support, the war would have stretched on.
The problem is that the US says they won the war because of the nuclear attacks on Japan, but they forget that Germany had ALREADY surrendered to the European Allies in May, Japan didn’t surrender until September but World War Two, as a global conflict, was already over. At that point it was just USA v Japan.
Yes, they were the first to storm the Eagles Nest (Hitlers mountain home/base) but the Nazis had fled before they got there so it really didn’t achieve anything that wasn’t going to be achieved anyway.
So we need to stop with all this “who won the war” in individual countries and just focus on the fact we did it TOGETHER.
Unfortunately. I think Europe will achieve that by next month, whilst the US won’t achieve that before the next century…
If I was German I would brag about how many nations it took to take us down just to stir shit. They were the baddies and they lost…..but that national k/d ratio
The people who truly won that war are the civilians who risked their lives to constantly report on the German movements and sabotaged everything that they could.
Without those people, the German supply lines would have worked the way they were supposed to, and they’d have rolled over Europe unmatched.
It was the Russians. It’s not really a discussion if you look at history.
