  9. Fantastic speech, full of self-evident universal human truths grounded in history and structured around our best long accumulated rational ideas.

    Such messages are always inspiring, but after today’s very long and troubling day, it is even more of a relief to find that there is still sanity in the world, and that men and women willing to stand up and speak of it still exist.

    Perhaps this is the time in history where Europe proves that its slower democracies and better restrained capitalism offers a resiliency that is not available to the money first, “grow at all costs”, American ultra capitalist economic and political model.

    I sure hope so, because what we are seeing here right now in North America is making even the autocratic Chinese governance model look reasonable in comparison.

    I haven’t seen the horizon of a future this dark in the western world in my lifetime. I hate hyperbole in general and I have pushed back many times over the years against the hyperventilating people declaring that the end of civilization is near, but this moment is getting real.

    It feels otherworldly and unbelievable because surely no one really wants that future (or present), but it seems the psychopaths who would burn the world may have convinced enough people now to achieve critical mass.

  11. Bravo! Poland should have a bigger role in NATO and the West. As a German I trust neither my own country nor western Europe to stay committed to countering muscovy, and Poland, the Baltics and Scandinavia seem much more trustworthy in matters of defence against the kremlin imperialism.

  12. Beautiful. Shades of the type of speach you would hear prior to WW2, warning of the necessity to stand up against tyrany and pure evil.

    The fact that the world has become more sympathetic to a “deal” in which inherintly questions and threatens the sovereign borders of Ukraine is only indicative of the modern human condition that gets bored easily and only cares about the bottom line.
