Until we can get that stuff renewably at scale, we should not expand our need for it. Investing further into research, yes, because it may bear fruit someday, but it has been clear for a while that we’re just going to use fossil fuels to generate that hydrogen with our currently available technology, which misses the point entirely.
Hydrogen GWP is about 11, methane is about 30. There are lots of biological processes that generate methane, plus all the fossil fuel sources. Hydrogen would only enter the atmosphere as leaks.
Feels like a nothing burger article.
Why would we release hydrogen? That makes no sense. It’s like letting gasoline be poured into nature.
