Problem is – economical issues are relatively easy to conceal for a year or several by using band-aids like government hand-outs, money printing etc. It stabilizes things a bit while allowing the problem to grow but at the same time, the problem solving is delayed.
As far as I’ve read, situation is dire for russians but things can be kept stablw as far as momey machine is going brrr and economy is being held by purely making war-related things that get destroyed next week.
If the war ends, many people will get unemployed and on government handouts, it will take time until companies begin trusting ruzzia to (re)start businesses there, especially those that had assets seized. All this period going to be extremely hurtful

Even if Rubio was the one asking, the question is right. And the answer is that we don’t have any plan and any real plan can lead to nuclear escalation, maybe.
But if I was asked that question and I would be an EU official I’d say that there is no plan besides helping our friend, Ukraine, in the common interest of defending our borders, for as long as they need and for as long as they are willing to fight for their freedom.
Whatever money spent now on weakening Russia is money well spent for the future.
Also, Russia might be willing to kill all of it’s population for a bit of land, there is no plan in dealing with that besides keep fighting, and for now at least there are no European lofes being lost.

Well the USA was against going all in to defend Ukraine. The USA has shaped world after WW2 and destabilised region after region. And now they ask us how we are going to end it? And who started it? Maybe it is time to start asking Russia when they are going to withdraw forces from Ukraine.

– Ukraine giving up all kids that were stolen

-Ukraine giving up any plans to join NATO and or UE

I support Ukraine and Russia fight until either Russia occupies 100% or collapses. If they want that land so much, it has to be as expensive as possible for them.
I’m not sure what the actual strategy will be, but here’s a few ideas I encountered that seem promising:
* securing ceasefire ensured by european peace force on the ground
* continued support and build up of Ukrainian forces until peace by superior firepower is achieved
* assymetric approach by funding and supporting secessionist and revolutionary groups across russian republics to ultimately fracture russian federation into a bunch of independent sovereign nations
* The Devil in the Boxcar: repetition of Ludendorf and Hindenburg’s trick with Lenin – releasing revolutionary and subversive elements into russia to spread distrust of government, ideas of western democracy ,freedom, self-realisation, personal agency, anarchy…
* creation of new defence alliance along NATO’s eastern flank to ensure russia will never gain another centimeter of land by force in this direction.
I do not understand something. Russians want to talk, so they get the place at the table, but for the Ukrainians to get the place at the table, they have to: apologize, thank, give up the minerals, and agree to concessions even before the talk starts.

Lots of people are living in a dream land. Putin cannot offer favourable terms even if he was losing, as that would diminish his authority in the eyes of Russian people. Peace can be achieved only with compromise. Putin must get something so that he could spin it as a victory for Russian people, in Russian media. I don’t like it. But that’s how it is. We have no ways to overwhelm Russia. Maybe if it didn’t make money on oil. But they sell it to China. Are you willing to stop buying everything made in China?
It may sound harsh, but in Europe’s best interest is, that this war never ends. Russia can’t attack other EU countries if it constantly bleeds resources to keep up the ukrainian stalemate. We can afford to keep Ukraine going with little effort, russia can only keep up with it’s whole industry focused on that.
Be realistic. Ukraine has no more soldiers, the state relies on foreign financing., economy is collapsed. One year from now , after sacrificing another 100t soldiers or more, the situation will be even worse. So I believe it’s better even for Ukraine to stop this madness and accept the harsh realities.
