My wife and children are in Primark, Mannheim, where they went shopping today. Primark has locked them inside for safety. Any idea what to do? Unfortunately, they do not speak German. Can someone here please get me the latest information from the police so that I can send them accurate updates?

I’m planning to go to Germany soon and this is really spooking me.

I was NEAR the area. Literally 10 steps away when this happened. I was in a shop (tkmax) and they asked us to drop the things and just go. That was honestly stupid of all the shops to do it. They couldve shut the shutters down with customers in it to keep them safe.
Anyway, so i stepped out and it was chaos. Trams all stoped. Police everywhere. I turned right and the police said go round and go from there. The way to paradeplatz was closed and i also caught a glimpse of a body infront of H&M. THAT IS LITERALLY MY WAY TO HOME. I use this everyday and every inch of my body shut down. It could’ve been me. I was taking the other way, suddenly people started running and screaming. And j started running and crying and screaming. A few of us took shelter in a building. They shut the whole city down. The news isnt telling. Its absolute terrifying here. Im traumatized for life and i cant imagine people are who injured, what they are going through and people who lost their loved ones today. Just made me think about the wars and auch incidents going in in countries, how do people come out of something like this.
Anyway, I cant go out now cus this literally happened near my home.

God, sometimes i hate people so much. The Mannheim police is asking on their twitter page to not share pics or videos of what is happening *right now*. All comment “why are you denying us picture proof” “what are you trying to cover up” “you will not stop the truth from being documented”, etc. Are these people just stupid? No one says the police wabts the pics hidden forever. Do they not realize that the police has not yet lifted the warnings, that they patrol the exits of the city, that they still ask people to either stay away,,or stay inside? Do they not realize that the police us not sure yet that this is over?
In case that someone involved is not yet arrested, pictures and videos of the current situation could help them evade capture. Limiting information an accomplice can access is a smart strategy.
Got really worried when i got the alarm, cuz my brother is usually at innenstadt during the time the attack happened. Thankfully he is fine
