Tyler Fire Department said the coast is clear after a reported fire call at the People’s Petroleum Building in downtown Tyler.
Four ladder trucks responded to the call around noon Monday after a report of smoke in the basement, according to the department.
Tenants began to be evacuated and could be seen standing outside on sidewalks near the building. Tenants were later cleared to return to the building.
There were no injuries, according to the department.
Motorists and pedestrians were asked to use caution and avoid the area if possible while engines cleared the scene.
