The Green Man is said to represent the true capacity for ultimate good; a reflection of nature in its purest form. The Green Man is often placed in opposition to modern society (modern back then at least) and the concepts of chivalry, honesty, and goodness which are really just vague and empty concepts we place upon ourselves as individuals in a society.
