  2. We’re the world’s sixth largest economy and yet according to the government, we consistently have ‘no money’.

I’ll leave joining those dots as an exercise for the reader.

  3. Problem with Corbyn is that his anti-war philosophy only works if every country on Earth agrees to participate. How can he say that he has opposed the Russian invasion of Ukraine from Day One while also arguing that the UK should not increase its defence budget?

What does he think opposing Russian invasions is supposed to entail? A few angry words and a sincere hope that they’ll just stop?

You oppose Russian invasions by spending money to arm your allies, while preparing your own military for the future.

What is more staggering is that Corbyn has absolutely no ability to read the room politically. The whole country is absolutely furious at Trump for pulling funding and talking about how money could be spent better domestically. Every political party in the UK has supported Starmer, then along comes Corbyn echoing Trump’s words.

  4. So Starmer who is centre left is deliberately hiding the money so he can achieve fuck all domestically and get voted out as a one term prime minister and be remembered as a joke. Very plausible.

  5. I don’t really believe in the spectrum of left or right wing, I like to think I’m quite liberal in many things, until I hear/read things like this.

“Put simply: there is never any money for the poor, but always enough money for war. I just wish the government was honest about that.”

They are not the same thing. It feels like his argument always involves “why X instead of Y?” Or “This is the answer not that” and always, always seems to rely on that everybody is willing to be nice and get along, and that doesn’t happen in the real world.

I’ve got a lot of respect for Jeremy Corbyn, wether you like his politics or not he’s been in the game for a long time, but shit like this doesn’t help. We’re trying to avoid a war and he’s here moaning about money. Prioritise Jezza! I see these arguments a lot from the far left and far right. Start by making a point and then go onto some other topic to try and make your original topic sound right, I’d like utility companies nationalised, but right now, I don’t think it’s a priority.

You can’t always win with words. You can’t always find a non violent solution. None of us want this, but there’s a reason you’re writing articles for a free newspaper and not making any important decisions. It’s not an either/or, we don’t want people to be homeless and also don’t want to get fuckin invaded.

  6. Britain never has money. it hasn’t had money for 15 years. or so they say. LMAO. AND i guess Britain will continue to never have any fucking money for investment.

  7. Why not tax the rich? How hard can that be? I don’t but if it makes sense to push families and young children/older people with significant health problems into poverty. This is supposed to be the Labour Party, their talk goes against Labour principles, it’s not what I voted for.

  8. Of course there’s extra money, doesn’t mean you should spend it… I have a reasonable amount of savings, an emergency fund, pension and some long term investments. I’m not going to liquidate it all and spend it today just because it’s there. Corbyn would’ve done that just 2 years before the COVID pandemic hit, can you imagine what that would’ve done to the pound and borrowing rates for this country if he had? It would’ve been Liz truss on steroids.

The fact is in personal finance, corporate finance and national finance it’s good to not spend because you can and to keep enough in reserve for when things get bad. And to those that say things are bad now, just wait for if it _really_ gets bad, because it can get a hell of a lot worse than the G7 economy we’re in today.

  9. Again, my apologies for supporting Corbyn before. It would be swell if we could all disarm but it’s clearly not going to happen, and I was an idiot.

  10. Jeremy Corbyn stand up to Russia challenge 2025: still impossible

  11. Yes because politicians love not spending money and making themselves popular don’t they.

If it wasn’t for Corbyn we might have been spared a few years of the tory shit show, he can go in the bin.

  12. Of course there’s money if you’re willing to pull Starlin-esque economic policies.

  13. I’m not a pacifist, some people have to be shown force, so I don’t agree with Corbyn here.

Where I do agree with him is, that there is always money for war and none for helping people. There’s never any talk of “financial black holes” or “magic money tree” when it comes to war.

  14. There is always more money, he controls the printer doesn’t he

  15. Oh look, it’s helpful Jeremy chiming in again.

Maybe he should have chimed in around the time we voted for Brexit? Oh wait, he wanted Brexit. None of his supporters seem to mention it.

  16. Never thought I’d ever agree with Corbyn. Strange times.

  17. He’s a relic from a bygon era, he holds as much to blame for allowing Boris with no majority, to call an election as opposed to taking full advantage of the situation for once. Idiot.

  18. Yeah – I like Corbyn’s compassion but not his naivety.
