The cooperation between Greece and Croatia in the field of tourism, which will also include joint initiatives at the European level, was discussed at a meeting between the Minister of Tourism Olga Kefalogianni and the Minister of Tourism of Croatia Tonči Glavina, in the context of the international tourism exhibition ITB Berlin.
In particular, the mutual support of the candidacies for the Executive Board of the World Tourism Organization (UN Tourism) for the period 2026-2029 was agreed, and Croatia’s support for the candidacy of Haris Theocharis for the position of Secretary General of the Organization, who participated in the meeting of the two Ministers.
Among the topics discussed were
Bilateral and multilateral cooperation at the European Union level, with the aim of promoting the tourism agenda and claiming a distinct budget for tourism.
Cooperation within the framework of the Adriatic Initiative (EUSAIR), in particular regarding the succession of the presidency and joint actions for the development of tourism policies in the region.
The development and implementation of technical assistance programmes (TSI), in cooperation with DG Reform and the OECD Tourism Committee, to promote a sustainable, resilient, and digitalised tourism model.
Cooperation in the field of tourism statistics within the framework of the Maritime and Coastal Tourism Observatory for the Eastern Mediterranean region.
The meeting confirmed the excellent level of cooperation between Greece and Croatia in the tourism sector, with both sides committing to strengthening their partnership and co-developing joint actions at the international level.
