  1. So this clown already gave up in the trade war he started? Are you tired of winning already?

  2. He literally broke the previous trade deal he himself signed to start the trade war

  3. He made a deal with both Canada and Mexico in 2018! They should just tell him to stick to that deal. I can’t believe anyone would be seriously interested in negotiating with someone who wants to dump his own trade deal 6 years after signing it.

  4. There are mechanisms for conducting trade negotiations that don’t require all the threats and drama. Give direction and let the Commerce Department and our trade representatives do their jobs.

  5. Does anyone have any insight into what more Canada could even offer here? 60% of their imports are from the US, they sell their petroleum blend (WCS) at a calculated discount to WTI. I’m struggling to see how Canada could any better of a trading friend to the US.

  6. He will sign something today then have a brain fart next week and scrap it. Canadian political leaders know this. The powder will be kept dry. Citizen boycotts will continue.

  7. In early February this year Trump tried to install his tariffs against Mexico and Canada. That lasted about 2 days. The Stock Market took exception to Trump’s proposed tariffs and he near immediately revoked them (he called it a pause) based on his claim that Mexico and Canada had acceded to his demands when in fact, both countries only offered up what they had previously offered to Biden. However, Trump needed a way out. And his way was to claim victory and pause the tariffs.

Fast forward to March 4th when Trump again tries to impose those same tariffs on those same two countries. The Stock Market immediately takes offense and by the end of the day Trump is indicating he might modify those tariffs. Trump is not afraid of a trade war. The insipid child thinks he can win one simultaneously fought against the EU, China, Mexico, and Canada whose combined GDP dwarfs that of the US. Nope. Trump fears the US Stock Market. And his actions clearly show that.

  8. Scraps NAFTA for a new Trade Agreement USMCA. Proclaims victory.

Blows up his own Deal, acts like it never happened, and creates another Trade crisis, for what exactly? For what?

    Market manipulation.

  9. What a terrible negotiator. How is he negotiating from a position of strength now? I don’t understand at all

  10. How does the “Find Out” portion of this trade war feel now, Donald?

  11. Again?? Didn’t pretty much the same happen a few weeks ago?

  12. American exports to Canada will still suffer because of this. There has been a huge increase in Canadian nationalism because of this, and it’s not going to stop.

  13. Make a trade deal then break it and start a trade war. The art of the deal lol, how does this show trading partners America is a reliable?

  14. The trade war has already started. Tariffs and counter tariffs have already been enacted.

  15. It’s too late. Other countries cannot sign deals with Trump because he breaks the deals he signed and he changes his mind every day, making it impossible for businesses to plan ahead.

  16. Deals that will benefit him, not necessarily the American people.

  17. Isn’t this the Russia playbook? “We’re open to withdrawing if…” even when you’re the aggressor.

  18. At this point as a Canadian, I’d rather have the tarrifs in place and us start to move towards a less economically dependent relation with the US.

This crap of jumping back and forth is ridiculous. He has no concern for the fact that he’s playing with people’s lives.

  19. If I were them I would just lean into it. Let him backtrack.

  20. Too late Trump. You’ve demolished trust in the United States with our allies, and made friends with Russia.

  21. The tariffs a destabilizing smokescreen. Trump wants to tank the economy so he and his oligarch buddies can buy it up. On foreign policy Trump has expansionist delusions of grandeur, Panama, Greenland and Canada. Panama has the Canal, Greenland has minerals that he wants, he also tried to shake down Ukraine to get them. Canada has natural resources, minerals and the way the climate is going, the north west passage. He’s pulling back America’s 80 year role as world police, and Just today implied Canada’s democracy is at risk because Trudeau is still PM after he announced his retirement. Pretty soon he’s libel to claim that Canada needs to be “de-Nazified”

This has Putin’s fingerprints all over it.
