I know the psychologische kring in Leuven already did schachtenadoptie instead of schachtenverkoop since 2015 or so. They noticed that the bond between peter and meter was not as strong with the adoption as with the sale.
So by all means, get rid of it on moral grounds. But that also means fewer meaningful relationships will grow out of the process.
Good!
Next up: bootcamps for soldiers joining the army should not include physical activities because that could be inconvenient.
Why make such a big deal of a tradition that’s like one day in your life.
Why must the two be in opposition ???
Just separate the two worlds like it is done for instance at ULB or UCL. Create a non-folkloric event where older students mingle with ALL first years and volunteer to mentor them. On the other hand keep the event with the folkloric roleplay and which is a source of financing for the baptism activities
Only matters if they can enforce it. Just like their previous “doopcharter” two years ago no kring or club is actually forced to sign up against their will. It’s just strongly encouraged.
Literally a circle jerk by people who know nothing about studentenverenigingen. Everyone has seen the Reuzegom tragedy and as a doopmeester for a respectable kring without radicalized practises, our life has become hell. Daily threats despite not having anything to do with the shit of Sanda Dia. All our fun parts of being involved with a vereniging are being removed so we’re just unpaid workers now, only good to help sell the university courses. More students are lonely and depressed than ever, opportunity to party is being minimalized. Groepsgevoel is nowhere to be seen because our doopactiviteiten are being forbidden. Like studentenverkoop was great for the kring. People saying “good” to this are just boomers who know nothing about the traditions. As long as everyone respects the doopcharter (which we do) dopen is a lot of fun. Why don’t you go after jeugdbewegeingen where they also doop and where giving 16 year olds bottles of vodka is normalized.
People commenting ‘good’ think every ‘kring’ or ‘club’ is like Reuzengom, meanwhile i go to a party of the chiro and i see 14 year olds passed out on the floor…
