Elon Musk says that Trump’s tariff policies will cause “hardship” for the middle class, but then says that it’s “necessary.”

  1. Weird how it’s always the working class that need to sacrifice but never the billionaires..

  2. What about your hardship Elon?? You could pay for all of this with no hardship at all! Doesn’t seem necessary to me asshole!

  3. Funny how it’s the billionaires who will profit the most and gets the most subsidies that tells the average worker that pay taxes that there will be hardships.

  4. Long term prosperity for the oligarchs.

The oligarchs put in anti-labor and union busters in NLRB. Almost all Americans live off their labor.

  5. Coming from a billionaire who is helping to instigate a recession so he can become richer.

  6. He’s trying to replace his personal tax burder with *your money*.

Look at your tax bill from last year. Now double it. That’s Trump/Musk.

  7. No. What we need is for you to lay off the drugs. It turns your brain into mush.

  8. More middle class wealth extraction to fund American billionaire industrialists

  9. This is great. The party of short term, immediate gratification is having to get behind the, “this is gonna hurt for a little while” message. How long can this last? The suspense is wonderful! Lol

  10. It’s a way to oppress middle class. The poorer they get, the bigger leverage these billionaires have over them.

  11. Anyone else having trouble believing that these two knuckleheads cracked the code on long term prosperity for the middle class? Like it came to them in a fever dream or something? How do they know?

  12. Notice he isn’t signing up for tax increases or canceling is several billion in government contracts. No. He means YOU will endure some hardship. Not him.

  13. they will destroy middle classe so will be only rich and poor

  14. Some people are about to get Marie Antoinetted

  15. That “temporary” hardship is enough to shove a solid portion of Elderly – Vets – Single parents – and otherwise at risk individuals on the streets. While stripping their medical care… I don’t see that as necessary for long term growth.

  16. I really want to curse all of these unempathic billionaires. Not a US citizen, but practically similar things happened in my country.

  17. In a way, I agree. It’s barely tenable to pretend that billionaires are real. What’s the point of a monetary system that rewards people who make nothing and punishes people who make everything?

The only way to maintain the belief is through suffering. If money isn’t real, if countries don’t exist, if billionaires aren’t somehow ordained by stupid gods, why are we suffering so much?

We have to suffer if we don’t want to go through the awkward and dangerous work of imagining something more interesting than a few useless dipshits doing ever escalating dipshittery and waiting our turn to have whatever comforts we’re clinging to ripped away from us.

  18. “Some of you may die, but it’s a sacrifice, I’m willing to make”

  19. He is so full of shit that we could compost him and relieve the fertilizer shortage.

  20. In fairness the quote is “temporary hardship to secure long term prosperity” which is a bit better. The problem is that one of the few things basically all economists agree on is that tariffs won’t bring long term prosperity.

  21. I was initially confused about the tariffs, but I feel like his goal is to encourage things to be made at home again instead of everything being outsourced. Seems like long term goals
