Europeans seem determined on boycotting American products. To what extend do you think this is going on in Switzerland?
European products (incl. Switzerland) first and foremost!
Honestly all US products I buy are close to optionless. I mean good luck buying for example a pc with no US parts.
We don’t have that many us products on the EU market except for the tech sector where europe was sleeping for years and got kicked back…
Biggest f you europe could do is stopping asml from selling to the us but that will have hard consequenses
Reddit bubble, move out
Just realized I already bought the majority of my goods either European or Chinese. Now if they have a good alternative with enough critical mass for Reddit and Google, that would be real game changer.
Good luck with that 🤣
Dumbest thing ever.
I’m Canadian, lived here for 15 years. The amount of american products I consume was already low, but I will certainly be boycotting whenever possible because of the threats to my county’s existence and utter disrespect to the people of my country and our elected officials. If you aren’t Canadian, you might not realize how earth shattering this has been for us, we have been taught to be nice, play nice, be kind to our neighbour, but we just cannot after this.
Very few people participate in such political activism. Not saying it’s bad or pointless but I guarantee it doesn’t affect much. Skewed perception.
How’s the Reddit boycott going?
Apple quality has dropped so low thats its worth to change.
No Intel, no Apple, no Google?
Yeah, let’s pretend that we don’t buy, say, butter from
uS, that is how we save the planet.
This won’t work. Just in consumer electronics, how many are stopping to use iphones, androids? or divesting their savings from US stocks via funds or whatever? or stopping from consuming US culture? Industrially, to which consumers have little knowledge and exposure, the wiki list of exports is long and pervasive to make a dent without govt coordinated action.
I expect this “phenomenon” to be visible in US sales to Canada (tarrifs) but not in Europe.
Personally, as someone who does take ethnical stances on consumption, I’m not interested in joining this, nor judging people or companies based on where they are from.
There are many, many more environmental, workers basic rights, child labour, animal cruelty issues which deserve attention before this.
Even China boycott should objectively come first. (Not that I’m interested in that either).
Good luck getting people to quit Apple!
US Boycott List postet on Reddit lists – drums – Reddit 🤪
I don’t really understand the point of the boycott though. Trump is putting tarrifs in place to protect his country’s economy. And that’s bad, because… ? I wish Switzerland cared more about its own interests than about what the EU thinks.
Edit: I mean, buying locally produced goods and services is always better and more ethical, but I don’t get the angry reactions about the tarrifs. It seems hypocritical to me to be angry at Trump for wanting his citizens to buy locally, and then pushing Europeans to do exactly the same.
Way to go China!
No, they are not. A social share of a website and an article written by someone who needs to write something, anything, just to get paid.
Attempting to boycott companies that have local legal entities only helps damage the local economy when those people are let go. If everyone in Germany were to boycott Tesla, then Tesla would exit the market and all those workers would be unemployed…
