Meghan Markle is reflecting on a lesson learned from a buzzy hobby she shares with Kate Middleton.
The Duchess of Sussex, 43, welcomes viewers into her world in the new Netflix series With Love, Meghan, which premiered on March 4. Episode one of the show opened with Meghan tackling beekeeping and expertly handling a live hive.
“I’ve got good vibes,” the Duchess of Sussex said as she pulled away the honey and mulled what it meant. “It’s like also that little reminder to do something that scares you a little bit. I think that’s part of it, but I’m trying to stay in the calm of it. Because it’s beautiful to be this connected.”
Beekeeping is one of many pursuits that the Duchess of Sussex takes on in With Love, Meghan, her fifth project with the streamer as part of the multiyear deal that she and Prince Harry signed in 2020. Meghan served as both host and executive producer for With Love, Meghan, which follows her in “the kitchen, garden — and even at the beehive — as she prepares to host friends both old and new,” Netflix said in a statement.
The Duchess of Sussex’s beekeeping called back to the hobby that is one of Princess Kate’s interests. The Princess of Wales, 43, keeps bees at the family’s country home, Anmer Hall, and her office posted a photo of her caring for her hive to celebrate World Bee Day in 2023.
“We are buzzing about #WorldBeeDay 🐝,” read the caption of the snap shared in May 2023, credited to photographer Matt Porteus. “Bees are a vital part of our ecosystem and today is a great opportunity to raise awareness of the essential role bees and other pollinators play in keeping people and the planet healthy.”
Princess Kate once brought honey from her hive for a visit with schoolchildren.
Kate is not the only family member who is keen on bees. Queen Camilla also enjoys beekeeping and makes her own honey from hives at her country home, Ray Mill House, which is available for charitable sale at Fortnum & Mason.

The Duchess of Sussex is a busy bee in With Love, Meghan, which sees her cooking, crafting and spending time with friends like Mindy Kaling, Abigail Spencer, Delfina Blaquier, Kelly McKee Zajfen, Tracy Robbins, Daniel Martin and more across eight episodes.
“Sharing some of her favorite tips and tricks for cooking, gardening, crafting, and more, Meghan reveals how even the most minute details can help add beauty to our lives and, most importantly, help bring people together,” Netflix said in a statement. “Whether it’s preparing take-home gifts for guests or adding a sprinkle of edible flowers to breakfast, it’s truly the thought that counts.”

“When your children get to a certain age — when you’re not just playing in the sandbox with them but almost playing in your own sandbox again — it’s super joyful,” she says. “As a woman, a mom and a wife, to be able to find yourself again — in a way that was always present but that you maybe couldn’t put as much attention on as you now can when your kids are a little bit older — is a wonderful feeling.”
