    These concerns have been heightened by falling retail sales and associated layoffs, the anticipated impacts of President Trump’s tariffs on prices and domestic consumption, American stock indexes trailing their European counterparts in recent months, the Federal Reserve’s statements indicating that inflationary struggles are far from over, and data pointing to sharp declines in consumer confidence.

  4. I’m not worried about a recession – those come and go and typically only result in a few years of hardship. I’m worried about the long-term damage, the stagnation and malaise that will create hardship for the next decade or more.

  5. No, Trump is causing us to head towards a depression. Additionally, there’s a high probability that the US will lose its status as having the fiat currency of the world. Previously, I was expecting this to happen in 18 to 24 months. I think those times have now been accelerated.
