One banner branded the US president a “KGB agent” with the code name President Krasnov.

It’s easier to be righteous than effective. If there is any chance of Sir Keir convincing Trump to see reason and reverse his current positions then cancelling this visit would eliminate it.
As a Briton, I’m not worried about how posterity will percieve this moment. Trump believes that gaining this second and unprecedented state visit to the UK will help to cement his legacy amongst the good and the great.
In fact, it will be remembered as a desperate move to appeal to the ego of a vile narcissist during his comission of one of the greatest betrayals in recorded history.
