    I’m hardly sobbing with sympathy for China, but DAMN, they’re supposed to be on the same side!

    They now both deal with Russia and buy their oil and gas as well appear to be supporting Ukraine.

    And strike back diplomatically at Trump because of tariffs.

  9. This was always an obvious consequence. China will now cosy up to Europe as an economic and military ally. Far more valuable than Russia.

  10. I absolutely agree with China but unfortunately when your supplying the aggressor with arms and other means to destroy Ukraine, it is a bit like speaking out of both sides of your arse.

Trump’s policy is going to drive former US allies to China, US is dismantling its own influence around the globe and its own economy with zero action from China or Russia, also consider how badly Russia is doing in Ukraine and is able to destroy the NATO alliance and US power all over the world. Starting a war in Ukraine is going to prove to be a master move by Putin – not only restoring Soviet territory, but dismantling US power and NATO at the same time – now thats a legacy. I guarantee there will be Russian books, documentaries and mass propaganda made about Putins move into Ukraine and simultaneous destruction of its enemies – without ever entering in direct conflict with them.

  21. I’m Canadian, and after Trump started his trade war with us, I will do my utmost to NOT BUY American products. America’s biggest competitor is China. Who do you think will come up as the winner of Trump’s trade war ? Not the US, not Canada, but China.
    There are a lot more Canadians that are boycotting products made in the US.

  22. In this new world order, China is probably a better partner for Europe than the US and, of course, Russia.

    Not because they share our values or are good guys. But at least they have a long term vision of the world, we know what they stand for (are predictable) and we can probably compete in a friendly way where we have common interests (like Africa and South America).

    In the end, Russia is a dying power, and the US seems to be going into a period of isolation.

    There is no possible war with China, or India. With Russia we know how things are and US may turn itself in an enemy very soon.

    You can always rely on China to do what best benefits China and right now that’s more disruption between Europe and USA.

  32. Can someone explain why China suddenly would support Ukraine? CCP propaganda media has usually been pro-Russian.

  33. China has so far not been involved at all. There has been talk about them getting involved on the Russian side. So I’m not sure what this counts for.
