The UK have their own AWACS planes, but they may be dependent on US technology, as it was unthinkable, in the past 80 years, that the UK would need to operate independently of the US. Thank goodness for Charles De Gaulle who foresaw France and (by extension) Europe needed to be able to operate independently in the worst case scenario, which has now arrived.
There is also the Swedish AWACS planes mentioned some time ago. What happened to them?
