1. Believe it or not I think the R’s will suffer serious political consequences for their actions. Vast majority of Americans support arming Ukraine. Of course that won’t undo the damage done, but…it’s something. Maybe. Or maybe I am just trying to make myself feel better during this absolute nightmare

2. Many Americans are plain stupid and don’t understand how the world works and how things are interconnected. And they believe this nonsense they are being fed.

3. Are American voices being heard at all. Not one republican party rep has questioned Trump. Anyone who disagree are labelled as woke or other disparaging words. You need to hit his oligarchs in the pocket. Start with Musk by boycotting Tesla. X, Starlink, etc.

4. I sure as hell don’t want it. I was rolling my eyes at the copium from the “maybe Trump will be better for Ukraine” crowd but even I’m a little surprised at how bad it really is. JFC.

6. I am 110 percent on the pro-Ukraine side and all of this makes me sick to my stomach.

   I wish there was a way to communicate the underlying American complexities here that makes this not so clear-cut for many of my fellow citizens. Fundamentally, I think many who are ambivalent or against us supporting Ukraine think that way not because they particularly like Russia (there is that group of which Trump is of course a prime example – they make up maybe 30 percent of voters at best). But for the other people who don’t care, are willing to give Trump the benefit of the doubt, I think the main drivers are different.

   1. Ukraine is a long way away
   2. Why is this our problem?
   3. We have tried arming Ukraine and helping them, but that hasn’t lead to Putin caving, maybe we should try something else.
   4. We keep getting into wars that we don’t really win and cost lots of money we are borrowing.
   5. We are tired of Europe relying on us for defense.

   I think all of these objections have good answers, but there are a lot of people here who haven’t heard them, or haven’t bought them and frankly don’t even want to think about these things because of point 1. Trump is taking advantage of that to do what he wants, which is to be friends with Putin. I wish things were different, but that’s where we are and as far as I can see, how we got here.

7. Their goal the next 2 years is to fuck up institutions so badly it will take a generation or two to get back to where we actually want to be so they can get back in power when Democrats can’t do anything.

8. It’s what they want. We have unfortunately with actions not words have shown we are not to be trusted. Kills me to say it.

9. Trump’s favorability rating has been dropping rapidly and just went negative [yesterday](https://projects.fivethirtyeight.com/polls/favorability/donald-trump/). And by complete coincidence the entire 538 organization that does the polling was fired. These people are Bolsheviks. They will either trigger a reaction and be annihilated in short order or secure control and reign for decades. It’s fair to say there is no one as smart as Lenin, Stalin, or Hitler in this group, though.

    Not the MAGA ones, certainly. They’re cheering, and they somehow think it will magically make America strong, or lower their taxes, or fix their Healthcare.

    Any GOP representative who speaks out gets death threats, and was told by Musk that they will be “primaried.”

    The entire international order is collapsing, and America is losing its leadership and “soft power” (and given the circumstances, rightfully so).

    I’m sorry to the Ukrainians, Canadians, and other allies and friends who have to deal with this madness. I voted against this, but sadly my worst concerns have come to fruition – all within the six weeks.

    Now they are mainlining Russian propaganda and are convinced that the only way to make America great again is to betray all of our alliances and to slash education and science funding even further.

25. As an American I can tell you I have been spending a few weeks trying to educate people on eastern Europe and how it will effect America… The amount that are literally stupid or completely fucking crazy …. Really how the party of Reagan is sucking Putin’s cock in fear is beyond me
