Drew Barrymore put Meghan Markle in the hot seat during the Duchess of Sussex’s first daytime television talk show in over three years.
On March 7, the Duchess of Sussex appeared on The Drew Barrymore Show at the end of an exciting week. Meghan’s new series With Love, Meghan premiered on Netflix on March 4, which doubled the same day she unveiled the lineup of products that her lifestyle brand As ever will sell this spring.
During their chat on the couch, Barrymore brought up her guest’s relationship with Prince Harry.
“Every time I ever know anyone who ever knows you guys talk about how ho— this is the keyword. Everyone. And they are different people from different walks of lives,” the host began, prompting Meghan to turn to the audience and ask, “What is she about to say?”
Barrymore continued, “They go, ‘They’re so hot for each other.’ ” At that, Meghan laughed and covered her face with her hands, as the host added, “Every time I see a photo of you, you’re holding hands, you’re kissing, you are so affectionate.”
“I mean, look, life is full of surprises. I did not expect to meet H and for this to be our love story and, you know, I’m very lucky,” Meghan told Barrymore, describing Harry as “funniest, sweetest, most charming” as well as an “amazing father.”
Meghan also shared that when she was babysitting during her college days, one of the fathers told her, “Meghan, when you meet your person one day, I want him to say to you the same thing that I said to my wife when we got married which is: ‘I vow to always date my wife.’ ”
“And I told H that when we started dating, and he goes, ‘I vow to always date you,’ ” she continued. “So we have this connection, I think, because we’re so committed to treating each other the same way you did before had a ring on it. Before it was locked down. When you’re just courting each other and you can see all the good and joy during that butterfly period.”

Meghan traveled from her California home, where she lives with Prince Harry and their children, Prince Archie, 5 and Princess Lilibet, 3, to film for Barrymore’s show in New York City.
The appearance marked a rare televised interview for the Duchess of Sussex, whose last similar sitdown was with Ellen DeGeneres in November 2021. At the time, Meghan and DeGeneres were neighbors in Montecito, and the two had a chat about how they first met (at a pet shop!), loving life in California (“We’re just happy,” Meghan said), Archie and Lilibet’s Halloween costumes that year and more on The Ellen DeGeneres Show.
In this week’s exclusive cover story, the Duchess of Sussex opens up to PEOPLE about launching her lifestyle brand, stepping back in front of the camera for Netflix and how she and Prince Harry are balancing love, family and new beginnings.
With Love, Meghan sees her cook, craft, create and entertain with friends new and old across eight episodes, reminiscent of the essence of her original lifestyle blog The Tig. (Meghan ran the site from 2014 to 2017 while starring on Suits, and surprised longtime fans at a screening of With Love, Meghan in N.Y.C. on March 3.)

“My husband met me when I had The Tig, and I see this spark in his eye when he sees me doing the thing that I was doing when he first met me,” Meghan says about Harry’s happiness to see her back in her groove with her new ventures.
“It’s almost like a honeymoon period again because it’s exactly how it was in the beginning when he’d watch me scribbling away, writing newsletters, fine-tuning edits and just really being in the details of it. I think he loves watching as much as I love doing that creative process. It’s just been really fun,” she says. “This is who I’ve always been.”
While the Duchess of Sussex’s return to Instagram has been closely analyzed by the two million followers she has amassed since the start of the year, she doesn’t identify as an influencer.
“I see myself as an entrepreneur and a female founder,” Meghan says, “and if the brand ends up influential, then that’s great.”
