Elon Musk promised a robot taxi service this June – Now Tesla has a serious problem on its hands. Before Tesla can unleash a fleet of driverless taxis, it first needs to prove the cars can operate safely and reliably on their own. And that means having a human behind the wheel—at least for now.

  1. Yes, but remember lying about this sort of thing is his MO.

Robotaxis in June was never going to happen.

  2. People will burn these into the ground

The entire fleet will be lost to arson

  3. Uber driverless taxi pilot in Pittsburgh had human drivers who pretended to drive. The rider wasn’t supposed to know it was automated, and the driver could log errors. My brother in law was promoted from originally a driver position to their test track for catching several issues and identifying the code that caused them

  4. This is why he likely went after all of those agencies investigating him. They and he know it’s all fraudulent behavior and selling the idea of a concept of a thought to buyers. Tesla is far from fsd and auto ride hailing and it just wants to force something, anything thru to save face by July.

  5. Tesla will be worth trillions soon as everyone wants to pay for an autonomous Nazi robot around the house – even Jewish people!

  6. The guy is ponzi scheme of ideas and fake demos

  7. What is a human going to do? There’s no wheel or pedals.

Want to put money down that Tesla deploys taxis in June?

  8. hitler musk has tainted everything he touches. his role in destroying the government with lies, exaggeration, and misdirection fits perfectly with this brand. this company is technologically a dead end now. robo cars are still a joke and 10 years off in the best case as in 3 years these cars will be banned.

  9. Considering he’s been given the (illegal)) power to scaledown or eliminate, among other thing, his industry’s regulatory organizations, he won’t *have* to prove that driverless Teslas are safe and reliable. There won’t be any regulatory agencies to stop him. The public release of these potentially dangerous cars will be the safety test phase and how they discover safety risks–people are going to get hurt or killed for it.

  10. If there is no National Highway Traffic Safety Administration then Musk doesn’t need to prove a damn thing. Who knew DOGE would be so profitable for Musk?

  11. Self driving cars automatically slam on the breaks if it senses a pedestrian in front of them. This is a problem they can’t fix. As it stands now, in a manned vehicle, the pedestrian does not know if the car will stop so they don’t walk in front of a car out of fear it’ll hit them. But if you know it will stop, you can ignore signals at a crosswalk and cross safely. Unless they turn off the safety feature, self driving cars will never be fully utilized.

  12. they just need to make smart roads like they have smart sorting conveyors in factories. blamo! problem solved

  13. Uh, sorry, nowadays I don’t think anyone would stop them from just deploying them without seeing if they’re safe. So two possibilities:

    One, no driverless fleet.

Two, let’s hope this one doesn’t happen.

  14. He won’t have to prove shit, his daddy is already walking back driverless safety regulations.

  15. “Before Tesla can unleash a fleet of driverless taxis, it needs to have them.”

    FTFY.

  16. “Before Tesla can unleash a fleet of driverless taxis, it needs to have them.”

    FTFY.

  17. Do they actually have to prove they are safe. Im pretty sure his vice president will rubber stamp the approval

  18. Current driverless cars have been repeatedly stopped and vandalised so far as I can tell

  19. The head honcho is also a Nazi. So there is that.
