I’ve had a couple of mod mails from subs **I’ve never visited** telling me that I was **permanently banned** because I was “associated” with subs *[I’m assuming having posted in?]* a sub they didn’t like having visitors from.
Strange times.
Trump censorship incoming… So much for freedom of speech! 🎤
This is going to hurt pro russians more than us. Looks like a 2 for 1 penalty if you can get pro rus posts removed for celebrating/inciting/threatening violence. Which is like sausage to a dog, they can’t resist upvoting their few “successes” if you consider warcrimes a “success”.
Does violence against russians count?
Please list some subs that have violent content so I can go upvote everything
Sounds like they want Reddit to be even more of an echo chamber than it already is. “Oh I don’t like that people have a different opinion than me, take it away!”

When upvotes are a bigger crime than the war itself. How stupid can people be? I upvote what I want to upvote.
It’s helpful to post the link because a screenshot can be doctored. Especially when it’s about something as important as this. Always a good idea to add the source! 🙂
I’m okay with Reddit removing violent content, but totally incomprehensible why upvoting this is an offense. I understand that voting puts posts up in the ‘Best’, ‘Hot’ and ‘Top’ categories but banning people for upvoting..
Well, starts to sound a bit like our freedom is taken away.
I’m not sure how this will work because it’ll just stop people voting in case they violate some rule the bot is programmed with.
My confession is, I have never voted. Take that anyway you want, but at my ripe old age I’m well past garnering favour or dislike on the click of an arrow.
I judge contributions and comments on a personal level and will sometimes leave a comment based on that.
If you don’t upvote maybe another bot will warn or ban you,, based on the nature of your reply to violent content, or eventually if you downvote a nice post.
So an american platform is banning you from upvoting something they dont like . HMMMMMMM
Hmmmmmmm
dejavu .. anyone?
So…. what’s the reddit alternative? Lemmy?
So…. what’s the reddit alternative? Lemmy?
Don’t nobody give a damn about reddits gay ass point of view. I could fucking care less if they banned me. I shouldn’t be watching this stupid shit anyways. FUCK REDDIT
Here comes the thought police, here to warn you about thought crimes, conform to the echo chamber or be deleted from reality.
Just like the American elections. Punishing people for their votes.
Free speech has gone the wayside
Dead russians are the only posts I upvote on this site
wack.
I guess they’d consider this problematic in Non-18+-Subs. In Subs marked as 18+, that shouldn’t be problematic.
I think it’s about American’s pain point and how heavily they are armed and when those two things meet. By banning upvotes they can limit organising, sharing experiences and news.
Before the orange abomination started causing his own civilians a lot of pain there was no issue with what people upvoted to be seen.
Is this some Trump shit, trying to control media/free speech on Reddit? Trump probably doesn’t like it when people express facts and feelings, like calling him a big orange clown and a Putler asset.
I originally was gonna go long winded… but just gave up…. I will consider this the almighty warning, i guess?
I understand the humanity parameters… but what kind of humanity parameters does the Russian government, and its soldiers (illegally invading) have? Who in their right minds wants Orc soldiers to feel good about themselves? I understand keeping it respectful when it comes to almost everything else on reddit, but this feels silly and restrictive. If posts violating the rules are going up, why are they up in the first place? This also feels very, “Like what I say.”
Signed respectfully to the almighty mods,
Genuinely Confused
This means people will stop up- voting things that they’re not so sure about
So reddit controlling freedom of speech
Punished for voting using freedom of choice
So censorship in other words…. Reddit is based in the US right? Land of free speech etc etc…
I got one today.
I got banned from the travel sub where the original question was about how people with weaker passports travel. A citizen of a Central Asian republic mentioned Russia as a place they could visit. I replied “visit Russia, get a bonus trip to Ukraine” and got banned.
