    Again I don’t understand what he’s trying to gain here other than to further antagonise their supposed allies.

    You can’t re-write history. Everyone knows that the U.S. are the only country to have invoked article 5, and that when they did **every** NATO member responded.

  4. The russian plant paid for a big ad in a major paper (NYT) after he came back from russia in 1987, that practically said NATO should dissolve. So no surprise here.

  13. They already fought America’s war for several years. Ukraine is also on the frontline, fighting on behalf of Europe and all western countries to stop Russia from advancing. And people were complaining about Biden being old and having dementia. We need to have a retirement age for politicians and all judges. We need younger folks to lead our country.

  17. What he’s saying is that the USA doesn’t need allies. The USA is so big, so rich, so amazing that we don’t need anyone else. So treat us like the non-ally we are and start cutting us off from things. He doesn’t get to have his cake and eat it too. Make it hurt us. That’s the only way the country will listen. If you just take the insult and keep on course as normal with nothing changing then that doesn’t send any message other than you’re willing to stay in an abusive relationship.

    Ukraine also participated in Afghanistan, didn’t find the numbers, but responded to the call.

  19. In 2022 NATO was discussing how European countries could assist the US in defending Taiwan, even though that case isn’t covered by Article 5.

    But I will also say, since the biggest military threat against the US itself is a civil war, Trumps antics have actually increased the chance of Europe coming to the aid of (one of the sides that would claim to be) the legitimate government of the United States of America.

  21. I mean he basically told Canada if someone attacks us he will let them. He’s also constantly threatening us with annexing us. Quite frankly the only country that is threat to us is America.

    So – that could be one MANY other reasons NATO wouldn’t defend them. I mean would NATO defend Canada or America if America decides to invade us. Hmmm…..

    I was in high-school when the planes hit the towers , on a military base in Canada..

    I watched my Dad pack his bag and suite up with intensity that day along with whole community , then I watched him grip a beeper in his hand 24/7 for the entire week waiting for deployment and a chance to fight back with America.

    3 tours he did in Afghanistan, along with dozens of my high school friends who signed up after ..

    He made it absolute point to watch as caskets with maple leaf flags wrapped over them along with many other country’s flags were loaded on airplanes , 2 of them child hood freinds of mine who he watched grow up and who ultimately followed him to battle .. Then I witnessed two more close freinds take their own lives after returning aswell ..

    America did not go to war alone , it wasn’t just their war , it was our war .. It was our war because when we watched those planes hit those buildings in our eyes it was our family’s too …

    Thats the relationship that Donald Trump, his administration and a portion of Americans have stabbed in the back ..

    There are no security gareentees or words of honour from America , only short term transactions..

  41. After WW2 a lot of lives, time and resources were used to gain influence and portray ourselves as a protector of freedom and democracy. Now it’s like my country is only shaking our allies down for protection money.
