DAYTON, Ohio (WKEF) — Saturday, March 8 will mark about 75 days out until delegates arrive from the NATO Parliamentary Assembly Spring Session.
On Friday, a press conference was held recapping final walkthroughs of venues in Downtown Dayton.
“I think it going to be one of the biggest events we’re going to host,” said Sébastien Botella, head of operational management for NATO PA.
Congressman Mike Turner Chief of Staff Jason Galanes says a team of nine from the NATO Parliamentary Assembly ended visiting all the sites that will be used for Dayton 2025 this week.
The spring session is expected to meet over four days welcoming delegates from 32 NATO nations as well as the associated countries, and other interested parties. Turner lobbied for the delegates to meet in Dayton on the 30th anniversary of the Dayton Peace Accords Those accords led to peace in the countries of Bosnia, Serbia, and Croatia in 1995.
“I think everyone’s going to be very impressed with how we’re going to transform these venues for the committee meetings, the opening ceremony, and the planners who are going to sit here,” said Helen Cadwallender, head of conference service department, NATO PA.
City leaders stated there’s no surprise in showing off Dayton and welcoming guests expected to spend millions of dollars while in the Dayton region.
“We’ll be very excited about your visit and stay as long as you want. Even after the conference is over with just stay up a little bit longer,” said Mayor Jeffrey Mims Jr. “to have more and more of the business community step up, because they are proud of having this here in Dayton as well.”
Three different venues will be featured as places for assembly sessions and a NATO village will be setup that will limit access to parts of downtown Dayton.
