  1. That’s my stand up guy. Canada is not backing down until donnie, the Russian asset, takes all his illegal tariffs off. “Energy is OK we’ll only tariff 10% on that oil. No tariffs on electricity at all”. Why is that donnie? We will do that for you! You’re welcome. 🇨🇦

  2. Nice!

According to maga math, the more tariffs you slap on, the richer America gets no matter what, it just may take 5, 10, 50, or 100 years but it will happen!

  3. Given how angry people are in Canada Trump is lucky he’s getting away with just more expensive electricity, and isn’t instead forced to give the white house a new coat of paint.

  4. Still not going to trust our Federal Conservatives. Always consider Doug Ford is the last of the old stock Conservatives.

  5. Hi there, as a resident of ontario, we just very recently elected effetively and loud mouth idiot, for the THIRD Time. and hey, I don’t love that he is hell bent on privatizing public services and has been on a mission to destroy public lands and greenspaces, however on the other end of the spectrum having a loud mouth idiot in your corner right now, plays out well in dealling with the USA.

We can deal with Ford in a few years, we can revesrse the damage, but right now having a loudmouth in your corner who is down for a good old fashion weiner wag contests, isn’t totally a bad thing.

Side note, This time line sucks.

  6. That’s not fair! A surcharge for an EXPORT is more underhanded than a good old
    American tariff for an IMPORT!

  7. Good, screw NY. Maybe now they will start acting normal

  8. Oh, well. Time for US side to start preparing to raise rate.

  9. Trump didn’t cancel (or pause) tariffs on all imports from Canada. Only those that are covered by USMCA. Which is a minority.

This war will be over when Trump retracts and apologizes for his comments on annexing our country.

  10. The worst part about this as someone living in Minnesota is that Trump doesn’t care about any of the states that this will affect most. My energy bill will skyrocket. And will remain that way until the whole mess is over, if it’s ever over. Sure, it will eventually hit red states as general demand rises, but it won’t be nearly as hard as or fast as it will be here.

Canada has the right to respond this way. And honestly should be responding this way.  But as a a Minnesotan, this is going to hurt. And because we are a reliably blue state, the federal government under Trump will do nothing to ease the pain. Though it’s been pretty clear that easing anyone’s pain not making over 100 million a year isn’t in their plan anyway.

I’ve only recently been able to get back on my feet after Covid. And this, along with other recent moves by this administration makes me feel that I’m going to be going back to barely getting by paycheck to paycheck. If even that.

  11. Make it 250 percent. What trump is going to charge on dairy.

  12. Oh now usa wants to impose 250% tarrifs, time to charge them %300 tarrifs!

  13. As someone who benefits from Canadian power, this sucks. But has to be done. Bring it up. Make 100-300% while you’re at it.

  14. What the average Maga doesnt realize is that most of the world loves Canada and Canadians. Most of the world hates the U.S. So finding new friends and trading partners will be easy for us we honor our trade agreements. The US under Donald and the other two stooges is so untrustworthy they will be isolated. Good luck in trying to trade with anybody

  15. Honestly at this point I support this and I’m American.

  16. Honestly, just cut the US off entirely. This isn’t the time for slaps on the wrist. This is the time for swift aggressive action to send a message

  17. Allow Manitoba to follow suit with the Tariffs and it is the beginning. Apologies to my amerifriends, it has to happen.

  18. As an American. I love this. Give this administration what it deserves, a pissed off public calling for removal ! Let’s go eh!!

  19. “Oh, you’re big, pushy, and loud?
Do I have news for you, mon frere”

  20. As someone who is inside the country that will be most hurt by this I am still elated to see an adult neighbor step in to slap an out-of-control child.

  21. As an American, fuck us hard. We don’t all deserve it, but we all need to experience it.

  22. Not good enough. Turn it off completely. They have to be brought to their knees.

  23. Would it be great if they could cut power to places like factories, but leave it at places like hospitals, schools and people’s home.

  24. Canada can’t and shouldn’t roll back tariffs whenever Trump backs down. They let’s him lead the situation and learn from his mistakes. That provides zero consequences to him for trying various batshit plans that have real consequences for others.

He threatens 25% tariffs in a month, we should implement 10% tariffs in a week, escalating to $25 when they do. It has to hurt them to threaten us. They back down on the threat, we keep the tariffs on for another month before backing down.

There have to be consequences to their reckless actions. At the same time, they should see that backing down also results in eventual de-escalation on our part.

Canada needs to be coordinated and nimble. Have a range of options ready to go on a moments notice.

  25. I think ole DJT is finding out that the world is not filled with spineless leaders, like the GOP.

  26. Ahhh a leader who knows the difference between a tariff and a surcharge.
