Can you explain this for non-greek speaker ?
I would be totally OK if the museum has the same level of cartoonishly bad nationalistic wankery as a sketsaki tou dimotikou but with a 7 figure budget. We are talking about detailed animatronics where Jesus descends from the heavens in a 4×4 and on the trunk stands Grivas shooting lazers from his eyes, vaporizing british troops left and right. Then they teleport to Buckingham Palace where he impregnates queen Elizabeth just by pointing finger guns at her and yelling “PEW PEW”. Otherwise the money could be spend better literally anywhere else.
We already have enough Digenis and Makarios stuff around anyway. 4 million Euros can go somewhere else, let’s say… help the Med system in the middle of the pandemic.

I think that people are not thinking clearly about this.
First of all we need to understand two things.
1) he made eoka possible.
2) his name and his influence was used by eoka b to overthrow the government of Cyprus in 1974 (And yes. He died before the 15th of July, in January actually).
He made the greatest and worse feats and people need to remembee that. And thats what a museum is meant for.
Cyprus is already bombarded with ignorance and half-truths. 1974 is not spoken in schools by the whole truth in order to not “offend” one of the two great political parties, and tbh it is rarely talked about.
Grivas need to be remembered for all he did. Not biased. By their name.
Yet, biased right wing think he is a hero, biased left wing think he is a traitor. Well. He was both. And for hisstory to move people need to understand the following:
The truth about his actions. The raw, objective truth and why he dis what he did. Only then would people start to realize why 1974 happened.
And by learning history, we may be able to not repeat it.

He didn’t achieve anything positive in Cyprus, it’s all part of a constructed creation myth. Him and EOKA A did not achieve anything that wouldn’t have happened naturally.
Poverty percentage in Cyprus is about 24% (yes it is true!).
Many fellow citizens suffer from poverty and our government is thinking of creating a museum that will bring zero revenues to the state in times of economic crisis.
I am right wing and even i didn’t agree with spending so much money for Grivas
