Hello everyone !

I know its a bit early to start gardening but I want to make my balcony ready for the summer.

Last year i was in the gardening club of my university and they had those big planting boxes that they filled with soil and we were able to plant a lot in a single box. ( it was about 120 x 60 x 70 cm3).

I tried looking it up in Prisma, tokmanni, ikea but I can only find small flower boxes not those we used for gardening.

Does anyone know where to find these or the actual Finnish name ? I have tried istutusruukku, istutuslaatikko, puutarhalaatikko but still cannot find what I am looking for.

  1. Have you tried K-rauta? They usually have a fairly decent gardening section. Also, sometimes a larger Plantagen has gardening boxes you could craft something similar to that.

    Edit: someone pointed out Plantagen is out of business. In that case, perhaps puuilo as others said.

  2. Try: istutuslaatikko or kukkalaatikko. K-rauta, Bauhaus, Puuilo, Byggmax, Hobby Hall 🙂

  3. Forklift platform and a few sides to it is the cheap, common way of making that.

    Trukkilava in Finnish.

  4. if everything else fails. if you’re handy enough, you make make one yourself, perhaps a bit cheaper too.

    but as was already said, K-rauta might have what you need, or Plantagen/other similar gardening stores or Puuilo
