  1. A few weeks ago it was the judges, and soon the government workers will go too. Nothing too exceptional, but the discontent in Hungary is palpable. And just as a sidenote, Péter Magyar, the challenger of Orbán is also with the protestors

    Also Magyar will hold a massive rally on March 15, it’s a national holiday. Hundreds of thousands will attend.

  5. I hope the same people who were fuming a couple days ago about what Orban is doing in the EU see this and find some peace.

    Hungarians are not supporting that toad, but a divided opposition is weak against a united autocratic-leaning party.

  6. I love the fact that they are still using Hungarian flag with thee middle cut out as a protest flag. It was first used in Rákosi era where they cut out the Communist Emblem in the middle of the flag.

    I understand that Orban is actually only popular among the older generation (over 50), which is the most populous group, of course — and the one whose lives were shaped by the Soviet era, by the way.

  27. It reminds me when I was sent to the hospital on a trip to Budapest for a bad eye infection. You could see how little money they have but how much heart the people working there had. The nurse asked for some patient that could interpret and translate for me (as I don’t speak Hungarian). They then found an English speaking doctor. He attended me very well despite the ancient material he was left with. We then had a long chat: he told me he earned only 200€/month as a public specialised doctor. That he couldn’t provide for his family with this little money, so he did it as a side hustle just out of passion for his profession and for the people that cannot afford private medical care. Every one I met seemed kind of sorry about how I was treated but I was just glad I could get free treatment and an even kinder one than in my wealthy home country’s hospital. Köszönöm! The only people that should be sorry are the corrupted politicians that are stealing, lying and standing with the aggressor. Go free people of Hungary and go Europe! 👩‍⚕️🇪🇺🇭🇺
