The upcoming Malta International Fireworks Festival in 2025 promises to showcase more than 85 local and international teams, scheduled for April 22 to April 30.
The upcoming event is set to take place at the Grand Harbour and in Gozo, showcasing the vibrant pyrotechnic traditions of Malta.
The event is set to kick off on April 22 at the Grand Harbour, featuring a range of local and international teams competing across various categories.
Another exciting night of competition is set to take place on April 25 at the same venue. On April 26, the celebration will take place in Nadur, Gozo, in partnership with the Gozo Ministry.
The grand finale is set for April 30 at the Grand Harbour, celebrating the 21st anniversary of Malta’s EU membership. The upcoming closing event promises to feature spectacular performances from various fireworks teams, including Għaqda tan-Nar Kerċem, who triumphed in last year’s competition.
The night will wrap up with a unique fireworks and tech showcase aimed at lighting up the historic harbour.
This year’s festival will, for the first time, showcase performances by band clubs from various Maltese localities, enhancing the integration of Malta’s cultural heritage into the event.
Ian Borg, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Foreign Affairs and Tourism, stated how the festival contributes to showcasing Malta’s unique identity and craftsmanship. He pointed out its significance in boosting cultural tourism and establishing Malta as a year-round destination with a variety of events and experiences.
Carlo Micallef, the CEO of the Malta Tourism Authority, centred on the significance of the festival in drawing global interest and enhancing Malta’s tourism strategy.
Dr. Godfrey Farrugia, President of the Malta Pyrotechnic Association, spoke at the press conference, recognising the importance of the festival in safeguarding and showcasing Malta’s pyrotechnic artistry.
