Suggested to the OH that we should visit the famous Bude Tunnel…. She’s fuming at me and I’m really happy that I’ve ticked it off my list of weird places to go

  1. I was 48 years old when I first walked the tunnel. My life has been greatly blessed by the experience

  2. One day I too shall make the pilgrimage to this great place.

Do they still light it up at Christmas?

  3. I’d be mad too. To peak so soon in life and realise that you will never experience something so profound, so transcendental ever again… it weighs heavy on the heart.

  4. We went about ten years ago
Was a lovely sunny day, still got the fridge magnet.

  5. She’s probably just overwhelmed from the experience of seeing such a majestic sight in the flesh.

  6. Of course she’s upset. How is she ever going to top that? You’ve just made every activity or event she suggests a lesser experience by comparison

  7. I would quite like to visit this amazing attraction. Are there any facilities within easy reach as I don’t think I could do the entire tunnel without bladder relief at one or both ends? Will I need a torch?

  8. It’s quite big in real life. Absolutely worth seeing it in person.

  9. I suspect she’s fuming because now she has to think of something even *more* special for your Anniversary!

  10. So what else is on your list of weird places to visit and where are you going next?

  12. I hope you have a four day weekend, it’s the least most couples require after experiencing the Bude Tunnel

  13. Stepping in to that tunnel is like ascending to another plane of existence.

  14. Oh boy, I remember when this was such a hotspot that mods removed every new post about it. Good fun visiting it though.

  15. All jokes aside, I love that something so low key has brought together such a mix band of people from across the country. It tells of our humour and playing stuff up and down, always in the wrong direction. Yes it’s just a walkway, yes it’s a bit of internet fun but actually it’s actually really wholesome and you got to be a part of that which, with the way the world is atm, is definitely not a bad thing. We’re not on this rock for long, everything is temporary, we may as well have fun/join in with good shit along the way

  16. It’s so Bude-tiful, I must go one day and see it for myself but I fear the rest of my life would all be downhill afterwards

  17. I was a fan before it became overrun with influencers, street performers, buskers and people proposing to their girlfriends. It’s ruined the vibe

  18. I’m in charge of planning our family holidays, partly because I’m interested in different areas but also because my wife isn’t the best at finding ‘hidden gems’.

Poor soul tried to find something historical for us to do whilst staying nearby, came across a parody review and didn’t realise it was a fake and planned a whole family day out before she realised bless her!

  19. I think I’m going to wait a bit before visiting. The sign says big things are coming, and what could possibly be bigger than the tunnel. Exciting times ahead.
