If electricity prices weren’t so ridiculous in the UK maybe more people would switch.
Gas ovens are really bad too. We are trying to use the little convection oven we have on the microwave a bit more now for cooking small things.
Here’s a [**good article**](https://news.climate.columbia.edu/2023/04/25/the-truth-about-gas-stoves/) from Columbia University about gas stoves (hobs) in the U.S.
Wow.who would ever have thought. Burning a fossil fuel in a non ventilated enclosed room. Producing toxic gasses could possibly cause pollution. Well slap my thigh and call me Nigel
Demonisation of Gas begins.
I happen to know that no new builds will get gas.
starting with social housing and council housing, gas will be phased out and then it will then move on to private housing to phase gas out there too.
gas hobs are generally inside the house rather than cars which are outside so seems like common sense
Yeah, a study reported in The Guardian, there’ll be no spin on this at all.
Oh here we go, the bollocks against gas is starting to get people to switch to electric. This government via “studies” must think we were all born yesterday.
Great, now Sadiq is going to extend ULEZ to cover our kitchens to “save us”
I thought we all knew this? This is known right?
Its like people who smoke. They don’t care they just want to do what they want and not be told what to do.
Gas is great, but you need to assure that kitchen is properly ventilated. I always open the window when cooking.
Always wise when cooking with gas to cook in a well ventilated area, that is open the damned window.
I agree that induction is as controllable as gas. The only issue is the interfaces for induction usually take 50 button presses to change power.
When you’ve got a pan of milk rapidly boiling over, a quick twist of the knob on a gas cooker and all is well.
But but burning gas producers carbon dioxide and water vapor? Which is why they are used inside houses?
Nitrogen oxides which the article seems to be worried about are only produced extreme high temperatures or if there’s are impurities in the gas! In my limited knowledge it’s not an issue & happen very rarely in household environments!
So god knows what the articles going on about?
Look. He’s licking the slime off that rock. That’s what he’s been eating. Slime! And there’s enough slime for all of us! We’re saved!
Fire hot.
Want heat, click click fwoom.
Induction.
Click and wait.
Also prices suck atm, hell no.
Hell would have to freeze over before I gave up my gas hob and oven. They cook far better than electric or halogens. Easier to control. I do have an air fryer which is useful but for my big oven it would always have to be gas. Also it’s not that expensive to use. It costs less to use my gas hob to boil the kettle than it does an electric kettle.
Well duh. How is a busy road going to raise my indoor air pollution
