  7. What will be interesting is how the regime will try to stop him. They definitely will use their state-wide media to attack him and invent stories. But they likely will go way too far with something illegal.

  8. The elections are a year away hopefully he can overcome Orban but the tight grip he has on government, police, and those same elections will make it very difficult. I’m imagining a similar outcome for him that tikhanouvskaya got in belarus

  27. Honest question: what’s to stop Orbán from inventing a criminal charge against Magyar, jailing him, and banning him from the next election? Orbán wants to be Putin and won’t care if Hungary becomes an actual dictatorship.

    Could someone who understands Hungarian politics explain me why would this guy, who was a member of Orban’s party for 20+ years, actually change things?

  45. I do not like him by principle, as he was FIDESZ all until last year. But he, as of now, is the best bet we have to actually topple the current system.

    Hopefully we won’t be handing the keys from one populist to another.
