>Sinn Féin TD for Cork North Central Thomas Gould has confirmed that he is the politician who was quizzed by gardaí investigating an alleged fraud and insists he is innocent.
>Mr Gould, who had represented the northside of Cork city in the Dáil since 2020, issued a statement to the Irish Examiner via solicitor this evening after reports emerged earlier that a member of the Oireachtas had been arrested by appointment on Friday for questioning by gardaí investigating an alleged €150,000 business fraud almost a decade ago.
>Mr Gould was released without charge by gardaí and a file is expected to be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
People who are surprised by this stuff genuinely confused me! But I’m happy that Sinn Fein can come down from their high horse for the next few weeks until someone new gets the scandal stick -_-
Let the media circus begin.
Watch as Sinn Fein are held to a higher standard than any other party and are subjected to day to day coverage of this (not that it shouldn’t be reported on)
Tough aul few weeks for Thomas dealing with bowel cancer and now this.
Would take a fair amount of evidence for the Gardai to call in a TD for questioning on businesses fraud, surely? Assuming it’s a businesses that referred the matter to Gardai, rather than an individual, they would have had to be confident before putting it forward. Would be surprised if there wasn’t more to the story.
The second Harris came out and said “it wasn’t us and I don’t want to jeopardise a case but it’s probably the worst crime ever committed” I knew it was a SF TD
One thing for SF, and separate to this allegation, but they sure know how to pick candidates. It’s like they went out and deliberately tried to recruit every gangster and shyster and sexual abuser in the country as their candidates, and then bemoan how their vote share fell so much in the last election
I can’t wait for this to be the main talking point in the Dáil for the next 6 weeks instead of fixing shit
JDS foods, Cork. He was a manager and another shinner councillor was involved as well.
Weird number of people in this thread seem more concerned that SF might catch a hard time over this, then the idea that a TD is a potential fraudster.

Not suggesting this is all related or anything….
How did the ditch miss this scoop??
Before he was named all the Shinner Bots were out in force.
“Well it must be FF/FG – can’t be SF because he’d be named in the media by now blah blah”.
Hilarious.
Another shit stain on the record of SF. We have no opposition in this country
Zionism at work. All the gobshites falling for it.
