The Portuguese broadcaster RTP has confirmed it will compete in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2025.
Portugal has confirmed that it will compete in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2025. The broadcaster confirmed its participation to ESCplus at the press conference following Festival da Canção 2025. This year will be the tenth time that Portugal has competed in the Junior Eurovision Song Contest.
No details have been announced to date regarding how the Portuguese singer or song will be chosen. It is expected that RTP will continue to use The Voice Kids Portugal to select its act, with the song being internally selected for the contest.
It was also confirmed by RTP that they will not be hosting the 2025 contest. There has been speculation that the contest will not be held in the 2024 winning country, Georgia, with the EBU speculated to be in discussions with other countries.
Victoria Nicole represented Portugal at the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 with “Esperança”. She finished 2nd in the final with 213 points, Portugal was 4th with the jury scoring 96 points and 1st with the online vote scoring 117 points.
Junior Eurovision 2025
Andria Putkaradze from Georgia won the Junior Eurovision Song Contest 2024 in Madrid with “To My Mom”. Unlike at the Eurovision Song Contest next year’s host is not automatically the winner of the last contest. The EBU is working with all interested broadcasters and will announce a host in the coming weeks.

Portugal debuted at the 2006 edition of the Junior Eurovision Song Contest in Bucharest. The country placed second-last tin 2006 and 2007 and withdrew in 2008. They did not return until 2017, when they were represented by Mariana Venâncio, who placed 14th with her song “YouTuber”. In 2024, Victoria Nicole finished 2nd in the competition for Portugal, its best-ever result in the contest.
