  1. Ignore the nonsense about Ukraine for now, the interesting news is a new Regiment of Gurkhas. It’s specifically for the Royal Artillery, which is again very interesting. As I understand things the British Army ORBAT currently only has 2 Regiments of heavy guns, so possibly this is an indication of interest in fielding a third, or it could be an expansion of air defence or ISTAR capability which also comes under RA purview.

Either way, this might be the first sign I’ve seen of an intention to actually expand the British Army’s capability.

  2. Here comes the Gurkha’s. Be afraid, be very afraid.

  3. My dad worked in the MoD during the Falklands War. He told me of a story doing the rounds, of a farmer, defying the Argentine-imposed curfew, walking back to his farm after a few drinks with a neighbour. The Gurkhas were already there in reconnaissance mode, but thought that anyone out after curfew would be enemy. He got his head yanked back from behind & as the Kukri came up to slit his throat he said “Fuuuuck !!!” at which point he was released & a little voice behind said “very sorry sahib very sorry” before disappearing into the shadows..

  4. I had the absolute pleasure of both teaching, and working alongside some of the Gurkha’s from the RLC, during their Covid deployment with the ambulance service. They were some of the most respectful, kind but fucking terrifying people I have ever met.

  5. To any young chaps who aren’t aware of the Gurkhas and their history in our military: those motherfuckers are Hardy and sturdy folk. Made of fucking stone and steel those chaps. Joanna Lumley backs them, should be good enough fir you pal.

  6. The amount of sad cunts who get a hard on for the SAS and Gurkhas is fucking embarrassing.

Edit: go on,  chug your energy drink, hit that downvote button, then go back to wanking off to Andy McNab books and playing COD.

  7. Back in 1982 during the Falklands War the UK deployed Gurkhas. They had a reputation among the Argentine soldiers as being savages and cannibals when word got around that they were coming many of the Argies swiftly fled their posts or quickly surrendered to non-Gurkha British forces.

“If a man says he is not afraid of dying, he is either lying or is a Gurkha.” – Field Marshal Sam Manekshaw, Indian Chief of Army Staff

  8. Russians wet themselves about Chechens for decades after Grozny so I can’t imagine they’ll be enormously happy about Gurkhas on the Dnipro.

  9. It reminds me of the story:

    – a train journey with a Gurka on board
    – robbers start doing their thing
    – Gurka hands over valuables
    – robbers decide to grab and harass a girl
    – Gurka – now breaks his cover, kills 3-4, injures 8
    – wins a medallion or something, doesn’t want it and donates it for a good cause
    – he was injured himself, fortunately recovered 🙂

A random YouTube pick of this story:

  10. One ridiculous headline after another, there will be no ‘peace keeping force’ because every member of the coalition of tbe willing has demanded a US security guarantee ( & shared intelligence over sight) which Trump has categorically said the US wont offer & the Russians said they won’t accept as part of peace talks.

I’m unsure what the purpose of all the announcements & headlines are for

  11. The UK has guns left.

    News to me.

I thought they were all shipped to Ukraine.

  12. Can you imagine the Ghurkas up against some confused North Korean conscripts..

  13. would be funny to see them go toe to toe with some Nepali mercinaries

  14. But no internet en Trump has, they Will be betrayed

  15. Brilliant , we need these guys.

While I get the chance, we should also offer the right to stay to them and their immediate families if they have served, least we can do for them as they protect our lifestyles for us
