1. We’d have solved the human causes if climate change if scientists didn’t have to sit down and write statements re-explaining the facts to prominent morons every week. 

   Edit: I try not to be an elitist about this shit, I really do, but *of course* the only reply I get denying climate change doesn’t capitalise anything. Anyway, I’ve clarified *human-accelerated* for the people at the back. 

   Yes, we’re on natural cycles of heating and cooling. But the fact that we’re also in a natural heating period just makes it a little harder to gauge exactly how much additional damage we’re doing.

4. Follow the money. Science in every field seems to have been compromised, shame most are not even aware. They will stop at nothing to push false agendas to keep the money flowing and silence those who dare question their bad science.

   Most science funding gets pulled if you don’t agree with what they want.

   To think none of the Geologists, Archeologists, Meteorologists etc, despite studying their respective fields for centuries even considered the climate might have changed in the past.

   Yet Tice, with no prior knowledge of the subject or experience in any of those fields, just showed them all to be wrong with the most simple of thought.

   Truly an astounding man.

It’s nice that they still hold this position, compared to the other deniers in the Tory party that realized that it had become untenable, and instead they’d just fight our attempts to slow down climate change instead. At least with these people, the public can see a distinction between their position and the mountain of evidence of climate change.

18. A very simple experiment can demonstrate the greenhouse gas effect of CO2. If you take two bottles and place a thermometer in each, both will read the same temperature. However, if you replace the air in one bottle with CO2, the thermometer in that bottle will display a higher temperature than the other. With this in mind, what do you think would happen if you started extracting hundreds of millions of years worth of carbon buried in the Earth and rapidly converted it into CO2 using billions of combustion engines spanning the entire planet, pumping all of that CO2 into the atmosphere and you continued doing this for hundreds of years? Well, you would increase the CO2 content of the atmosphere and the average global temperature would begin to rise. What don’t people get about this? You could argue that the impact of this won’t be as severe as some are speculating (I’m not sure I would agree with that but you could at least make that argument) but to deny that it is even happening is just akin to closing your eyes, putting your fingers in your ears and saying “la la la”.

19. He doesn’t have a shred of expertise or experience that would qualify him to make any kind of pronouncement on climate science, but the fucking dipshits will lap it up because they want it to be true.

The sad thing is that people like this have sway over how other people think, which means we will see a lot of people having a reality check in twenty years as they finally admit climate change is real and happening now.

25. Nuclear would have been the solution. Too much fear mongering over Chernobyl that was poorly managed and Fukushima hit by multiple natural disasters.

26. We should deny him access to anything that peer reviewed science has developed. Force him to live in the woods somewhere and fend for himself. He’d come crawling back to science.

27. Oil-producing Capitalists are afraid that they may not be able to make profit on the reserves that are left if we stop using fossil fuels. They need to milk us for every last penny before they switch.

    As with making money from cigarettes, they have to deny the science for as long as they can get away with it so they can squeeze us for more.

    Because they will NEVER be held to account for the manslaughter they cause.

28. My take on it is simple –

    Let’s just assume it is a load of bollocks and somehow all the massive mountains of evidence were wrong.

    Surely we should still be doing all the things we do to stop climate change _anyway_ just because they’re decent things to do with other more immediate advantages?

    Don’t use oil because it’ll run out soon and emissions cause various diseases. 

    Don’t dump plastic in the sea because it’s disgusting and kills marine life and therefore people’s livelihoods. 

    Don’t dump waste everywhere because it looks horrible and stinks.

    Don’t burn fossil fuels for energy because they’ll run out too and also cause diseases.

    And so on and so on. 

    I can’t think of a single thing we do to prevent/slow climate change that isn’t a good thing to do for other reasons too.

29. It’s weird this debate.

    There is a widespread consensus that climate change is driven by humanity than any natural cycle. There’s 8 billion of us on this planet, churning stuff around. We have a greater impact on our environment than we’ve ever had before.

    Yet chumps like Tice, the supporters they have, or typically right-wing media organisations will always present it as if it is unfounded, woke nonsense, hyperfocus on any study that tries to disclaim it, even though it is discredited in scientific discourse, or present it as an equal debate.

    Mind you, I feel these are also the same people who will litter in the street, fly-tip in someone elses backyard and then complain their neighbourbood is filthy and filled with rats.

    The same kinda people who are now beginning to ignore doctors, drug researchers, scientists (who’ve devoted their entire lives to learning, understanding what makes bodies tick, diseases, disorders and syndromes happen, and ways to treat and cure them) and ignore all that because some prat on YouTube said that a plant extract he sells or adverises is all you need.

30. Why are we still playing their game of he said/they said when we all know he knows he’s lying. I don’t even have to do any research to know he making some kind of income from some planet-destoying corp. Just call him a corrupt liar and move on.

31. It’s garbage in that it’s used cynically as a boogie man to scare people into enviromental awareness. And rather than getting people to act it’s just depressed a generation and made it even less likely they will do something about it.

    It’s a pointless counter productive argument because the cause of climate change is pollution. Most people will agree polluting our enviroment is a bad thing, and thats what you need to get anything done, broad political support. But then you throw in an unproven theory in there and now instead of everyone agreeing that pollution is bad, you’ve got people arguing whether than unproven theory is right, and now all progress has ground to a halt.

    So yeah it’s garbage. It causes more harm than good.

32. I saw him on something not too long ago (Question Time, I think), and he came out with this line that ‘scientists can’t agree on how much man is responsible for climate change’. Well, yes, that’s technically true, but saying that in the context of debating whether man is responsible at all is INCREDIBLY misleading, as the ‘debate’ that scientists are having is precisely how high the percentage is that man is responsible for. 97% of all scientists in any relevant field agree that the overwhelming driving factor in climate change is human activity. There has been several reviews of published studies into climate change, and they all found that under 1% came to the conclusion that man wasn’t responsible – and examining into those papers found that they were riddled with flaws and obvious biases.

    The science overwhelmingly indicates that climate change deniers, like Richard Tice, are just simply wrong, and it will take a fairly monumental discovery to change that.
