Lee Anderson, the Reform UK MP, has been ordered to apologise after swearing at a Parliament security guard.

Mr Anderson, the party’s chief whip, told the member of staff to “f— off” after he was asked to show his pass to gain entry to the Parliamentary Estate in November 2023.

He told the security guard on duty: “F— off, everyone opens the door to me, you are the only one.”

After being asked again to show his parliamentary pass, he told the guard: “‘F— you, I have a train to catch”

He has been told that he must apologise in the House of Commons for the incident, which has been found to breach Parliament’s bullying and harassment policy.

The Independent Expert Panel also told Mr Anderson to put an apology in writing to the security guard.
    ‘Upset, impatient and angry’

The Ashfield MP accepted that he was “upset, impatient and angry” but not “aggressive”.

According to the report, Mr Anderson told the IEP that he had not been able to use the passholder turnstile, and told the member of staff in question that his pass had not worked on the card reader.

He claimed that there was an “angry exchange” between the pair after he was told that he could not be let through and would have to “ring a security number”.

The report later said that Mr Anderson was “clear in his oral submission that he has now accepted the facts of the incident without equivocation”.

In 2012 Andrew Mitchell, the former Foreign Office minister, was forced to resign as Tory chief whip after he was accused of having called police officers on duty in Downing Street “plebs”.

A judge ruled in 2014 that Mr Mitchell probably did call a Metropolitan Police officer a “pleb” after being stopped from riding his bicycle through the vehicle gate in September 2012.

  2. This is Reform’s party whip, who just suspended one of their 5 MPs over complaints of swearing and assault.

As another former Reform member has asked on X,

    >So is the chief whip of Reform, Lee Anderson, going to remove the whip from Lee Anderson?

  3. All politics aside, this is just really shitty behaviour

  4. Oh look the supposed working man party treating the working man with disdain… They’re showing you exactly who they are

  5. Queue this sub Reddit shitting themselves whilst ignoring the labour MP that punched someone on camera and is still in a job.

  6. This is just the sort of MP that reform has, attracts, and let’s be honest: wants.

Farage is their face, but how many stories have we heard about reform candidates and mps being revealed as scumbags.

Farage is their face. Their brand. Their only asset. And he’s there because he sells popularism. Not because he would be a good pm or has good ideas, but because he can market Reform LTD. And sell their products.

I’d like to think this country is smart enough not to fall for it, and that brexit was a good lesson in not believing snake oil salesmen.

  7. Being polite to the plebs? It’s political correctness gone mad!

  8. Why does his face always look so angry ? Looks like someone out of football factory

  9. It’s hardly surprising that someone from GBeebies threw a tantrum

  10. “I am a cross man because I wasn’t loved enough and cannot regulate my emotions graaaaghhh”

  11. I’m not surprised he is the MP for Ashfield where I used to live and in that place you are told two things in life to get pregnant for benefits and to run around like an idiot lol

  12. Horrible Party led by people with horrible ideas that attracts people with horrible personalities.

  13. I have three observations here.

    1. Swearing at staff is disgusting for any MP.

    2. Lee Anderson seems to be a horrible little man, regardless of party or policies he just seems to be an unpleasant person.

    3. This happened in 2023. We only know about it because Reform and Farage are polling above Labour and Starmer. It’s about time this behaviour was dealt with at the time of offence, not sandbagged for political mudslinging. This should have been known before he was elected. Same principle with Rachel Reeves lying in her CV, it should have been revealed when discovered, not saved up for her November mini-budget to grab headlines.

  14. Lee Anderson is reported to have responded with:

    > Fuck off

We are now awaiting two apologies.

  15. I’m sure this is the second or third time he’s done something like this???

  16. > The Ashfield MP accepted that he was “upset, impatient and angry” but not “aggressive”.

Right, so merely a cunt but not an *aggressive* cunt.

  17. In the statement given to him to release, pretending that he wrote it, on suspending Lowe, Andersen is supposed to have said that Reform ‘operates to the highest possible standards’. What a fucking joke.

  18. I feel this is carefully stage managed to appeal to their base.

Try telling (most) factory workers, tradesmen, site labourers, farm labourers, etc. they can’t swear at work, they’ll call you a cunt.

This is part of their “tells it like it is just like us” schtick.

  19. A security guard doing his job properly, and helping protect the people on the parliament estate from possible attack, and bully boy Anderson is verbally abusive to him. I think Anderson is simply nasty person, unfit for parliament.

  20. Another bully in reform? Shock horror. It’s almost like they’re acting exactly as expected.

  21. The Gauleitier of Ashfield. He’s a thug: what do people expect.

  22. If they fall apart in this position, imagine them with the responsibilities of government? To give these people power would be the biggest suicidal move the UK has gone in centuries.

  23. I wonder which party this miserable cunt will defect to next. Can’t see the Liberal Democrats having him, can you? 😛

  24. And when Reform tanks what party will Anderson run to next, he’s on his third now

  25. It’s awful that he was rude and disrespectful to the guard but idk why 90% of the UK would care about swear words in 2024. Americanism gone mad

  26. Don’t worry, Farage will say this is how common people speak..

  27. ” Mr Anderson, the [party’s chief whip](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/2024/11/02/never-trust-the-tories-again-brand-broken-reform-kemi/), told the member of staff to “f— off” after he was asked to show his pass to gain entry to the Parliamentary Estate in November 2023.”

This is a old story from November 6th,2024

    [https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2024/nov/06/lee-anderson-told-to-apologise-after-swearing-at-parliament-security-guard](https://www.theguardian.com/politics/2024/nov/06/lee-anderson-told-to-apologise-after-swearing-at-parliament-security-guard)

Here is the same story, where he apologized.

  28. I’m enjoying this collapse of Reform. Didn’t even make it a year before the infighting and embarrassment began to erode away any support they’d been drumming up.

  29. Imagine being Lee Anderson, permanently angry without knowing why, baffled by the world around you and unable to go through any social interaction without being a massive, steaming piece of shit.
