  1. these are indeed used for charging trucks who use this road. May I encourage you to do the tiny thing called “Rettungsgasse” in these traffic situations before taking pictures as a driver?

  2. This is one of the gantries to track distance driven and charge trucks for our truck toll.

  3. they containt MANY KILOS OF COPPER (if anyone likes copper) just as a friendly reminder

  4. Please keep the lane for emergency vehicles clear. You‘re standing way too far on the right and will have trouble getting out of the way

  5. In france we used to call it « portique Eco-Tax » it basically scan the licence plate of the truck and the company have to pay a tax , most of them were burnt by during the truckers riot in france and belgium around 2012 and then it came back around 2015 i guess

  6. Let me go full german for a second:

RETTUNGSGASSE DU VOGEL HAST DU KEINE AUGEN IM KOPF

  7. I pass 2 of these on my way to work in the morning and I always thought they were to check if you were on your mobile phone whilst driving

  8. This might be the most German thread ever. Asking a genuine question, and full 40% of the top responses are to criticize you for not being far enough over during a stop.

  9. These are for toll control for trucks. Note I say “control” only

Trucks have a transponder on board which is the device via which the tolls are measured and then paid. These devices on the road don’t tell the transponder that they have to pay, they just quickly scan for the transponder so that they can later cross-check that the truck company has paid accordingly.

Truck tolls are paid per km driven so it would be impractical to have stationary devices on the road for that
