  1. AND France gave us the Statue of Liberty! They should take it back. No longer fits with Americas values

  2. Is this the part where Mexico pays for the thing?
Haven’t been able to keep track of all of the ~~travesties~~ winning

  3. I read this now multiple times, did france officials really said that?

  4. We will have to sell back the Louisiana purchase and even that won’t cover it

  5. This should be reality not satire. America never did pay France back for supplying the weapons.

  6. How can they go anywhere dressed like they are? Does Vance own proper length pants? Does Trump own a tie of appropriate length?

  7. Hi there, Netherlands calling here. Can we also cash our chips please. We have some accounts due from the Revolutionary War. Please make sure to remit within 90 days otherwise we’ll have to send to collections an everyone is going to get those pesky calls!

  8. Fact Check: Fake Headline Says France Is Demanding $150 Trillion In Interest For Funding U.S. Independence — Macron Did Not Say This

  9. I have only one responce, as an american who wants trump gone.

    “Okay”

    -pays it all to Hati-

    iykyk.

  10. I keep saying this.

Without France, the US would never exist.

It would still be a British colony.

And maybe, a nation of indigenous people would have existed instead.

  11. Is this legit? I keep seeing it, but was this really said?!?

  12. I don’t think France had the decency to wear a suit

  13. The Dutch are owned 30.5 guilders (22 billion today).

  14. IIRC, it actually was a loan, but the U.S. wasn’t in a position to pay it back when Louis XVI wanted it back. In the early days, the U.S. were a loose confederation with little to no ability to raise revenue on a national level. Then, when he was beheaded in the French Revolution, the U.S. could claim that they had made the agreement with the old government, not the Republic. France has gone through a few different republics and empires since then.

I don’t know if the French really expected the young union to be able to pay back loans in a timely manner. They were funding the Revolution to fuck with the British (a classic French pastime).

America did thank France, but mostly with hollow words.

  15. I hope Macron washed his hands after touching that filth

  16. I think any previous “thank you” would’ve been rescinded when the US had our stupid mini ‘freedom fries’ fad. I can think of at least ten guys who could front that bill…

  17. Hmmm. How many loans has Trump taken out that aren’t paid?

  18. While hilarious, this sadly isn’t true.

We completely repaid the debt during the Polk administration.

  19. I think the thank you was teaming up with USSRto destroy an actual fascist racist pos in the 40’s but who knows

  20. U.S. would NOT pay that. Best France could do is terminate all its services to the U.S.

  21. That picture is so apropos. It looks like the French president is treating Trump like a little boy. It’s okay little boy you don’t have to talk right now. The grownups are talking now about stuff that you really don’t understand.

  22. The Michael Douglas in “Franklin” was brilliant, ngl. Covers this topic a lot.

  23. uh this is just so completely fake. America DID pay back the loans France gave us. In 1795 a private citizen, James Swan, bought the debt from France and then sold it out to the highest bidder.

  24. Ask for half of our mineral wealth and 350 billion from Elon

  25. We paid it back in 1795 and said “thank you” in the 1940s

  26. Come bring us more liberty, and we’ll make America France’s 97th Department.

  27. Yes, actually. And we repaid the entirety of our debt already
