Swiss defence spending ‘a joke’, say German politicians

1. When I did my masters studies in Switzerland, my friends told me a story that an important flight was flying through Swiss air, but it was after hours for the Swiss air force so they didn’t answer the call, and France had to come in and escort the plane. Probably have that one a bit off.

2. There must be security solidarity in europe, it’s not morally acceptable for a country like Switzerland to let all the burden of European defense lie on others and reap the benefits of peace

4. Mandatory military service with refreshers, plus serving citizens bringing their guns back home. Add the vast network of bunkers and known, easily blockable/destroyable choke points to that

5. I mean, they’re surrounded by mountains, have capacity in nuclear bunkers for all citizen, have rigged their borders with explosives. What else do they need lmao.

6. The Swiss have never really pulled their weight in Europe. They sit in their mountain fortress and point and wag their fingers at other countries. Yet they are the country of Nestle and child slavery on their farms in the 1940s to 60s.
