The Opera house renovation will include ventilation, heating and heat distribution systems, automation of the electrical power supply system, insulation of the roof, renovation of the water supply and sewerage system, as well as renovation of the historical interior of the building as necessary.
The project will run until May 29 2026.
According to the Opera House, this will be the largest investment in the Latvian National Opera building since its reconstruction in the early 1990s. The total investment in the project is planned at EUR 12.1 million. Of the total, EUR 11.6 million is financed from the European Union’s Recovery and Resilience Mechanism Plan. The project will also involve LNOB’s own resources.
“The Latvian National Opera is one of the symbols of Latvian culture. We will carry out these works with great responsibility, which does not promise to be easy, as the opera must continue to work during the renovation works. However, I am confident that by working constructively with the management of the Opera, we will be able to successfully implement the planned scope of works,” said Jānis Lāčaunieks, Chairman of the Board of Pillar Contractor.
