Now show what the percentage is to include first generation descendants of immigrants.

Interestingly he doesn’t suggest that the disapplying the HRA will only apply to those immigration matters concerning convicted criminals.
Seems like all law abiding immigrants might be in the crosshairs too.

That’s way less than in many (other) European countries.
I bet the Daily Mail are gutted that The Telegraph beat them to the most Daily Mail headline ever.
So the majority commit a majority of crimes and the minority commit a minority. Real earth shattering revelation here.
So this is another bad-statistics hit piece from Robert Bates and his blog-pretending-to-be-a-think-tank “Centre for Migration Control.”
The headline is a flat out lie, unsupported by the data.

That number is also a bit curious as the foreign-born population is around 16%. You have to be careful when comparing data sets to ensure you are using the same metric – at least, if you care about being accurate and not just about an inflammatory headline.
Either way, with the 9% or 16% figure, when you control for other factors (age, in particular I suspect will be a major factor), the offending rate is probably going to be similar to that of the general population.
Sexual offending is bad, as is offending in general. But bad statistics and lying headlines aren’t going to help.
This may have more to do with foreigners being more distinctive and under more public scrutiny than British people. Strong accents and differing appearance give people away. Remember the amount of identified sex crimes, and those that actually go to trial, still more those that result in convictions, are a small proportion of the total actual crime. We shouldn’t use this one statistic as evidence for racism.

The misleading stats analysis quoted in the article are provided by the “Centre for Migration Control”.
It’s a newish Tufton Street sockpuppet org. It used to be called Future For Leave, a Tufton Street Brexit group. Co-chair was Richard Tice, vice chair was Nigel Farage.

It’s just another part of the right-wing disinformation system that exists here in the UK, funded by Farage’s backers such as the Koch brothers. They rely on rubes accepting what The Telegraph tells them, which as we can see works a treat.
In this case the think tank has dived into govt data, deliberately misinterpreted it, written up some copy and passed it to the Telegraph. It’s a textbook case study on how all this works.
Talk about cherry picked stats!
First of all you can’t just lump unknown nationality with non British. You literally don’t know. The clue is in the name.
And secondly the future used for foreign nationals looks wrong. Other sources give it at about 16%.
And oh look – if you take the actual percentages that we know, they roughly match.
Based on those graphs there ought to be a moratorium on accepting anyone from Congo, Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia and Gambia. If we were a well governed country foreigners would commit proportionally less crimes than natives.
Only a quarter? Gotta hand it our home grown rapists, they really know how to commit sex crimes
