The final of the Swedish selection for the Eurovision Song Contest, Melodifestivalen 2025, was watched by over 3 million viewers.

An average of 3,021,000 viewers watched the final of Melodifestivalen 2025 on Saturday night, with an audience share of 77.09%. The figure represents an increase in the audience compared to 2024 by 235,000 viewers and an increased share of 4.66 percentage points.

Across the selection, the audience on SVT1 for the contest was:

Heat One – 2,643,000 viewers – 79.62% share
Heat Two – 2,562,000 viewers – 78.52% share
Heat Three – 2,224,000 viewers – 68.87% share
Heat Four – 2,542,000 viewers – 77.88% share
Heat Five – 2,538,000 viewers – 78.68% share
Grand Final – 3,021,000 viewers  – 77.09% share

During the course of the over 2-hour broadcast, the show reached 3.94 million viewers, just under 40% of the Swedish population. The grand final of Melodifestivalen 2025 took place in Stockholm’s Strawberry Arena, following 6 weeks of competition and was hosted by Edvin Törnblom and Kristina Petrushina.

A total of 12 acts competed to represent Sweden, in Basel in May. The final results were as follows (jury + televote):

Erik Segerstedt – “Show Me What Love Is” (24 + 27 = 51)
Meira Omar – “Hush Hush” (26 + 24 = 50)
Maja Ivarsoon – “Kamikaze Life” (2 + 30 = 32)
Saga Ludvigsson – “Hate You So Much” (17 + 10 = 27)

KAJ will be performing in the first half of the first semi-final on Tuesday, the 13th of May.

Sweden debuted in the Eurovision Song Contest in 1958 and has gone on to be one of the contest’s most successful countries. The country has won the contest six times, the most recent being in 2015. Sweden’s first victory came in 1974 when ABBA won the contest in Brighton with “Waterloo”. Since missing out on the final in 2010, Sweden has gone on to finish 3rd twice and has won the contest twice, only in 2013 did the country place outside of the top 10 in the final.
