  1. The sicillians don’t want to be connected to Europe

  2. Besides mafia, also…

  3. How about we just make a land bridge? A little isthmus? We’d charge for it but we know Sicilians don’t have any money. So it’ll just be free. Just this once because they’d hate it

  4. Salvini said that bridge is being made.

    Salvini always lies.

    Therefore, there is no bridge.

  5. No economic incentive (this is both a jab and the truth)

  6. Haven’t they been trying to build one for the past forty years?

  7. Because maffffia pastaaaa pizzaaa maRRRioo

    Trust me bruv

Don’t forget to like and subscribe!

  8. They can stay on their island. It’s the best for everyone

  9. Give it some 50/60 years and about 10 more times the initial budget, wait and see

  10. There are a lot of reasons, but one that comes to mind is that it is in an earthquake hotspot, the sea floor is very deep and the currents are really strong.

Also, economically, it would be a massive economic undertaking

  11. I’m sure the people on Sicily wouldn’t like that very much. Islanders rarely do afaik.

  12. Real answer:

    – Water is very deep so can’t build foundation
    – harsh weather conditions are common there
    – fears that the mafia will get involved in construction to swindle eu funds into their pocket

    Jerk answer:

    I hate sicilians

  13. We have never built a bridge to prevent Sicilian immigrants from arriving in Italy more easily

  14. There have been about seven consecutive governments that promised to build a bridge there, then never mentioned it again the rest of their term

  15. Maybe a massive trench like the one between England and Ireland containing all the dumped ww2 supplies and some chemical weapons

  16. They should build it, with the mafia, but northerns are racist.

  17. Hey!

I’m from Messina, on one of the two sides of “the Bridge”.

    AMA.

  18. What do you mean “there is no bridge”? It’s been paid for at least five times!

  19. I once asked an Italian that question and I regretted it for the next 30mins

  20. ooooh North Europeans don’t understand PIGS’ way of (not) doing things. We had the same question for our Rio-Antirio bridge for decades, a very difficult project if you have the time to google it.

In a few words, there are ferries to transport people and vehicles, right? A whole economy based on a bridge that isn’t there. People earning money. People who also……. vote!
